Rover used VDO tachs in the NAS trucks. Just get yourself a VDO vision one. Signal comes from the "w" spade on the back of any alternator.

Doug: Will it only work off of the "w" spade? What about the negative terminal at the coil?

The gauge doesn't need to know what kind of engine is spinning the alternator. The difference between the original NAS tach and the VDO vision is that the new ones have a red needle and the originals were white.

You can use either but there are 2. One with a 4K top for a diesel and one for V8.
