ARB is a cheap, thin metal, open backed, bumper made in Australia. The Safari Gard bumper was a thick steel massively built bumper that was built by a small defunct fab shop in Southern California. Safety Devices now makes copies.

I had the sg bumper on my previous 97. On my 95 I went with the rock ware with integrated skid plate and actually like it better. I tried to get another sg but eventually went a different direction.

ARB cheap and thin..??? It ain't either one of those.. And while safari gard is a really nice heavy duty bumper some don't like the open sparse look of them... I have both and have decided I like the ARB better..

They're not cheap, but they are thin.

In my opinion, safari gard is the best looking brush bar.

Good luck with your search, but:

Rockware.net- Best bumper out there IMO... and still in business.

I've had one since '98 and still wouldn't buy anything else.

Cheers
Jay

My SW (now sold) with ARB took on a Mule deer at 60mph and all it did was scratch the ARB where the license plate rubbed it from the impact. Thin they may be, but that impressed the h*ll out of me.

Once in my RRC @ MAR @ the old Pearls Pond site I slid into a tree @ maybe 1mph and it bent the thin 16 gauge or whatever it is ARB winch bumper. That was 15 plus years ago and maybe ARB has thickened up their gauge of steel but I'm doubting it. Conversely in similar conditions @ Uwharrie on slimy red clay on a grade we slid into a boulder @ 5 plus mph in the 130 and bounced back (uphill) several feet. Probably 3 or 4 times the inertia involved. It scratched the Rockware decal on the bumper.

One is a toy the other is a tool.

IMO. ARB's are ok if you are a speedo wearing Aussie or the type of guy who waxes his jerry cans before going to the mall, they are Jeep quality kit. The "recovery points" on the bottom of the bumper say it all.

And they ain't recovery points on the ARB for someone else to pull us out...they are for a double line pull, coz when a serious truck with an ARB gets stuck, no toys with safari gard bumpers will be able to get near us to help out...

------ Follow up post added December 5th, 2014 08:32 PM ------

Or lashing points for serious adventurers (who always use ARBs) so they can be lashed down when crossing continents by oceans to lands far far away....

We sell them to Rover shops. We do not sell them for DIY (gave up on that). We are setting up a few shops around the country that will stock and sell them.

I do not check PMs. Call or email if you need something.

ECR is not a parts source. We are not in the mail order business.

My arb bent more than shayne's accent. They're fine for regular use but I'd hate to hit anything at an angle
