With your budget, have you thought about maybe a Santana instead?

1978 Land Rover 109/ Santana 3.5L super-diesel like Defender 110, NICE

1978 Land Rover 109/ Santana 3.5L super-diesel like Defender 110, NICE - $17999 (SAV)

I recently imported this Land Rover Santana 109/ Defender from Spain. It is rust-free and the nicest you will ever find in this price range. Left Hand Drive, looks same as a Defender, has an overdrive transmission, and the very rare 6-cylinder Land Rover 3.5L diesel engine. Has a lot of power, but still returns pretty good mileage and can be made to run on veggie oil/ bio diesel/ etc.

Truck/ My shop is in Savannah, GA - but I sell all over the USA and I love Austin TX, People@! No problem shipping, and I am a lot closer than you trying to import this vehicle yourself from Europe and hope it makes it here as described.

1978 Land Rover/Defender/Santana 109 6-cylinder diesel. SUPER CLEAN. | Zombie Motors

I have brought in several of these trucks in the last 2 years, and they sell quickly, and I have never had one this nice before~

I do not include my phone # in ads anymore as I get tired of text messages from bots and solicitors, if you are interested in this you are going to message me and include your phone # so I can call you.

Great Defender here, let me know what else I can tell you. Thank you ----

I thought RHD was non-negotiable... if you've reconsidered, there's a fair amount of options out there right now.
