WTB Radio Dash Mount

Looking to buy a radio dash mount for a Defender 110. Not sure if it matters but it is a Left Hand Drive.

Still looking. I guess Rovers North is best option.

Can anyone tell me the difference between these two product numbers for radio housings?

- FCA101680LOY - FCA101680LOY | Housing-Radio - Paddock Spares or https://www.lrdirect.com/FCA101680LO...AND-ROVER.html

- AWR2277LOY - AWR2277LOY | Housing Radio - Paddock Spares or https://www.lrdirect.com/AWR2277LOY-...keep_https=yes

I see that the AWR2277LOY product states "Radio housing trim part number AWR2277LOY for all models of Land Rover Defender upto VIN WA159806." My VIN is SALLDHMF8HA904718. Not sure how those correspond

Thanks. Low risk at $10 but I do prefer OEM so color matches the grey upper dash. Do you know what the difference between those 2 OEM radio mounts is?

Have you asked the shop doing the work to get you a tray? Personally if I didn't have a td5 dash I would just put the radio in the center console. Tuffy, genuine, etc. Is the truck wired for a radio?

No I have not. I figured would be best to have the mount ready. The truck does not and never has had a Stereo so not sure if the wires are in there.

How do people like having the stereo in the center console vs on the dash? Center console must make it hard to access, adjust volume, etc while driving?

All NAS trucks had it in the center console. It's not great but at least it is hidden. Having it in the dash is fine but that mount you want doesn't exactly give you the greatest angle either. The dash has always seemed odd to me because of the open vents. Not sure if it could get wet or not.

Good point re the vents. Any NAS owners have opinions on the location of the stereo head unit? Prefer in dash or center console. I will have a standard exmoore center console.

I have had both console and dash mounted. Looking down at the console sucks and is dangerous. I prefer a marine grade dash mounted unit.

Why not duct tape it to your sweet center console in your LS?

I have the color matched (first pic) dash mount for a GPS slide out head unit. I elected that location over my existing cubby for convenience, aesthetics, and functionality of the screen for navigation. I, too was worried about water possibly, and passively, entering through the vents. So I bent a nice piece of sheet metal as an upper shield cowl for the inside of the radio mount. At the lowest point, Closest to the vents, it bends downwards to also help shield any rain water or other passive water entering when the vents were open. At that point, my only concern was heat dissipation. I decided that heat concerns would be mitigated due to the increased venting in that location. It has worked flawlessly for eight years. Just my .02 ;-)

I liked having the radio in the console. I didn't need to look down as there was nothing to see. If the radio or CD wasn't playing what I wanted then I just changed the channel. Of course that was years ago so my radio listen habits have changed. No more changing CD's.

But still I do not see the big deal about it being in the console as it is easier to reach and looking down probably wont matter once you get used to where button are. If the radio has buttons of course.

Looking forward to what others have done about radios as my truck as speakers but no radio. At least that part of the wiring is done.

Figured this one out. The WA that is references refers to a truck made in 1997/1998 so that part should work for me.
