10 Gauge Galvanized is a lot tougher than the factory unit. The only issue with the counter sunk hardware is when it gets smashed on a rock you need to drill it out. Standard bolt works fine as you can get a vice grip on it and still remove and replace, so that is what I use.

Well thanks for all the good input. More to ponder for me that is. I'm in the middle of changing all the gauges and the retire that goes with plus adding 5 others and changing out all other than stock wiring with Blue Sea panels. Both switched and constant duty. The tank guard is on my short list...just farther down. I've reconsidered the countersink option and agree now with not on the rear. More strikes there than the front for sure.
Thanks for the update on Safari HP stock. I'll take a harder look at it this afternoon. The thought hadn't left my head. Just moved over to let other truck stuff to take center stage. These trucks are never done.
