Haha yes a leap of faith, but I have an idea what to expect. Like an old Wrangler but probably louder, rougher, leakier, and a hell of a lot cooler.

I am tempted to start buying parts now. I want an Exmoore console, LED headlights and brake/turn signals, BFG AT's or MT's, upgraded rear tire carrier...

Here is the truck

Just a little good natured ribbing. Looks very clean, congrats on your purchase, and welcome to the community..

I started with a good one though and focused on the basics
Here is my list of "Must haves". I want the truck to be close to OEM but nicer. OEM++
  1. Tires - 5x BFG A/T or M/T (torn on model and size)
  2. Exmoor center console
  3. Replace missing OEM decals (TDI for fenders, Defender 90 for rear)
  4. Rover North metal shift knobs
  5. LED turn signals/brake lights - original style/XS round style rear fog/reverse (BoltOnBits?)
  6. LED head lights (Truck-lite, Nolden, or JW Speaker)
  7. LR Elephant OEM tire cover
  8. Stereo (single DIN headunit, 4 speakers, 1 powered subwoofer in discrete location)
  9. Some kind of rubber rear cargo liner (I surf and am concerned about salt water inside)
  10. Roof rack for surfboards
  11. Garrison Outfitters rear window rattle kit

I am also going to immediately change all fluids, and air/oil/fuel filters. P.O. says timing belt is in good shape, but maybe that as well. My best buddy has a work shop I will inspect it on the lift at. No doubt there will be some unexpected things that pop up.

I think that list will run somewhere around $2500ish give or take. Not to bad and will make the truck that much nicer.

If anyone has any of those parts used in good shape, send me a PM.

Eventually
----------
  1. Mantec spare tire carrier (I might get this immediately too not sure yet)
  2. SD NAS style roll bar
  3. Rear disc brakes
  4. Newer OEM front seats (Puma?), with rear benches upholstered to match
  5. Newer OEM steering wheel
  6. NAS style bulkhead bar / Removal of bulkhead

In my old car I would keep a sock in the center console for just those reasons.

This is the mat I am considering (or maybe carpet like NAS SW and a rubber center mat)

genuine Land Rover Defender 90 FULL Rear load area mat/ liner with land rover lo | eBay

You have Family? I'd seriously consider moving the SD Roll Cage (Or P&P or other equivalent) up from eventually to #1 on the must have's list, but the is just IMHO..
