Red face WTB: Land Rover 110 (pre-1989 years)

1st post... might as well get right to the point.

I did a search here beforehand ('tiz the right thing to do), but didn't get lucky really finding my needs.

I'm looking to buy a 110 that's pre-89 (to avoid state smog testing and that sort of thing). I'm open to both Tdi and V8 options, but really prefer a 200tdi or 300tdi motor. I'm also open to two or four door models - pickup or wagon or other oddity like Crewcab pickup or? A 127/130 is a dream machine, but I realize that I'm my lowly demographic can't swing such a rig. Mainly, I'm after a clean, as rust/corrosion free as possible, example - bumps, dents, and not so great paint being completely fine. Basically, a solid daily driver in good mechanical order with no real issues would be ideal. Something around 20K in price.

Here's the deal though - I'm limited in my traveling range, for various reasons, so I need this to be relatively close to the Portland, OR area (WA, OR, and CA states - maybe ID, MT, NV).

I've checked with my local Rover shops and I'm not really finding what I need this way either. Most out of my price range or just a rust bucket. I found this site and lurked around for weeks and now thought is just put it out there.

PM me if you know of something like this. I might take a day to reply back, but I'll for sure get back to you. Thank you... this noob appreciates it.

Unfortunately your budget is a bit low for what you are seeking.

Give a call or email and I can help you with a few options in WA that are close - and if you wanted to make a short trip up to the shop (Gig Harbor just across the Tacoma Narrows) you can drive a few different trucks with various engines to get a feel for the difference. We have imported a few 110's in your price range and are happy to help.

ebay might be your friend but then again its ebay. your $ goes a lot further if you find and import yourself. there's plenty of folks here that have done it and can give you guidance if needs be.

Good point. If I don't get lucky locally sourcing a rig, this might be an option. A good friend of mine goes over to Ireland a lot and has already offered to hunt one down for me. For obvious reasons I'd like to find an already registered rig local. Wish me luck.

A decent one was just posted that is as you describe. You import it and you are well under$20k landed. Only needs a diesel swap after import

Michigan to far ?
closer by then Ireland anyway.

Have two very nice Tdi's but a little above your price and a V8 coming in soon around your price. All LHD, none of them "rust buckets".

Stuart Foley has a absolute beautiful truck that will be ready for import in 2015. He's an absolute stand up guy that I would never hesitate referring to anyone. As they say.."you get what you pay for". This is not a $20K truck but the incremental cost I'd argue pays for itself x many times over if you care for it and use it.

Clay, I appreciate the referral. Always good to know who's a straight shooter.
