WTB: ECU for 4.2 (likely 1995-ish RRC)

Believe part # is AMR3728. Need as spare or to check current no-start problem.

Jon_Winningham and Roving_Beetle bought them from eliaschristeas while I was researching it...guess I should have just licked.

E-mailed George at RDS and he doesn't have them. Checked eBay UK and US. No luck, and I'm not spending $350 for an ECU.

Still researching old No Start threads before I start my own, but current problem is that car randomly wouldn't start as of Saturday. No rain recently, and it's been close to 100 degrees the past 3 days (which has made troubleshooting pretty tough). No response (no dash lights or radio) in key/ignition positions 1 and 2, but it's turning over in 3...just not starting. Don't believe it's ignition module as I'm getting door chime and response in 3...seems fuel related (don't think I heard a fuel pump either). Already ordered fuel filter as a spare which should be showing up this week.

I know I know...check connections.

Silver relays.

Try roverdude or roverguy for the ECU.

Damn the silver relay / relays go all the time, huh?

Called my local NAPA and using part AR-274 (Mercedes relay and ours are interchangeable from what I've read) it came to $17.05 total (only one in stock). Relay with 5 prongs, but they couldn't tell if it was 30 or 40A, etc.

Going to buy 4 eventually (two replace, two spare).

Are you guys all just buying them from AB still?
http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/AFU2913OE.cfm
Or britishparts.co.uk
http://www.britishparts.co.uk/.sc/ms.../RELAY-AFU2913

Or do you just go Bosch part from NAPA, eBay, or whatever?
I had read that NAPA relay AR-274 (same as Mercedes) is the same

eBay:

Part: Rover part AFU2913 for others who are looking.

What do the silver relays have to do with this??

'No response (no dash lights or radio) in key/ignition positions 1 and 2, but it's turning over in 3...just not starting.'

You need positions 1 and 2 to power up in order that the car will start - to power up the ignition circuits, position 3 only powers the starter.

Check the fuses, and is it possible the the connections on the back of the ignition switch has become dislodged? Have you had the dash cluster off? It's easy to knock the connections off!

I started to pull stuff yesterday, but it was DAMN HOT in the street.

I pulled the fuses above the tunnel though and none appeared blown. After that I went and got an Italian Ice.

There are fuses under the bonnet (hood), If you have no power on the first and second positions then the ECU, fuel pump etc are not getting powered up ... there is likely nothing wrong with them. ( although spares are probably a good investment - don't swap them in until you get the juice flowing in the position 1,2 - otherwise you'll be adding more variables to troubleshooting the problem.

What was the last thing you were doing to the truck before it stopped working??

Did you play with the battery? or near the battery?

The last thing I did on the truck was remove the passenger side tire to check out my rotor and caliper. Then a few days later drove it a few blocks for alternate side parking, and parked it. Haven't really driven it since the brake problems because I want to get that all fixed up.

I was near the dual batteries when I took the stock jack out and put it back in there after realizing I wouldn't use it (used another jack), but that was a few days before I actually got the car up, and about 5 days before I drove it last.

Check the main fuse box under the hood ... possibly you shorted out a fuse ...

check your battery, and like Ron said, check those silver relays by the passenger side footwell. If you turn the key half way you should hear the fuel pump turn on, if not, then its the relays. what you doing after work? I have the motorcycle here on 11th and ave can stop over and check it out. call me later.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Love that I am not the one killing horsey. I am just watching the trainwreck that is his truck. I have an alternate theory of the problem. It is very hot right now in NJ. I am thinking the rhinolining melted and oozed into the ECU

I would only sell if I could get between Auspex's D90 price and bjf's D110 price.

Thanks for the offer, Dan, but it looks like a late night at work...definitely getting a ticket for alternate side parking tomorrow it looks like.

let me look in my stash tonight as I may have one good silver relay. mine went 2 years ago and I replaced both so one could still be ok to use. I can give it to you tomorrow during work and you can try it out and hopefully only one of yours is dead.

Put it in gear and roll it to the other side of the street with the starter.

Make a note on front windshield, "vehicle do not start", but you have to move the following 'alternate side parking'.

I'll try that, but they think it's a Jeep Wrangler, not a LR. They'll never believe it doesn't start.

Winch it to the other side of the street... Or, have one of your friends tow it.

If I rhinolined the 110 it would be worth more. Horsey I thought you parked in a garage. You leave it topless on the streets of boken?
