This Defender 200TDi of mine came with the wrong intercooler pipes and looks like shit. Trying to get the correct bits.

Looks like the wrong intercooler. And if you don't have a fan shroud you might consider an electric fan, in which case solving your plumbing issues will be simpler.

That is the correct intercooler.

The plumbing should look like this.

Looks to me like the intake manifold hose in on the wrong way around.

Sadly I've rigged the pipes the best possible way so I can drive the truck and make sure the engine is solid. After being sent so many wrong parts I wanted to make sure I didn't have a grenade under the hood.

My point is that the pipes you have, although not genuine, appear correct. However, the upper hose has been installed backwards. The hose elbow should connect to the intake manifold.

Just looked at mine, John is right. The elbow connects to the manifold, the straight coupler to the top of the intercooler.

I will say though that the aftermarket hard pipe that you have from the manifold to the intercooler doesn't look much like the factory one (which has a large arc to it).

This is the factory pipe that goes there:

Here is another photo of the pipes when they arrived. The larger black pipe is a bit too long and the silver pipe seems to go to a disco setup.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldnt the pipes look like this:

Rocker cover cable is a grounding strap.

If it were me, I would buy the correct upper pipe or have one made. They are not crazy expensive. The bottom one you have seems fine with a RHD. The funky genuine one is to clear the LHD steering.
