WTB Defender 110

Looking for a 110, preferably LHD, but RHD is not a deal breaker. This is going to be a project vehicle, so my requirements aren't too tough.

Must haves: Straight body, straight frame, legally imported with title. I would prefer it to not be a NAS, but if you have one that is reasonably priced, let me know.

Engine trans a and t-case will be parted out, so if it runs, bonus.

Surface rust is not an issue, as I will probably have the entire body and chassis stripped and resprayed.

If you are in Colorado, even better. I am an auto dealer, so I would be open to dealer to dealer purchases through normal channels.

I did. Nothing recent. Most listed as sold, and or other side of the country. I'll keep checking though. up:

price range, body style, etc…

We have a 110 3-door ST pickup cab, roll cage etc… coming up for sale in December under $30K.

$30k is out of my league for this project.

My bad for omitting the details.

Trying to stay under $10k, considering I'm just going to yank the driveline. I'm friends with Matt Peterson at Rockware (he built my tube buggy), and we've been discussing a plan to put a LS/6L80/Atlas II in a 110. Definitely looking for a 5-door as this will be my family wheeling/camping/blizzard rig.

A good imported VIN on the west coast with scrap metal attached is worth $5-$7K so at $10K you are going to be hard pressed to find anything that remotely fits your description - especially a 5-door.

You should expect to be in the $20K range for body panels that are mostly straight, and enough truck there to use for a project without having to replace most of it.

Thanks for the info. As with most projects, the budget is 'flexible.' I've been browsing ebay and craigslist, etc., but everything is either far away, or feels 'scammy.'

Oliver Whiting might be a source for you to contact. I find him to be a solid honest guy from Durango. He's a member here.

Probably scammy because there aren't many/any really within that budget here. Maybe a D90 imported basket case will be close, but I've only seen a couple 110's under 10k this side of the pond in the last few years. Best to look to import yourself if money is that much of a concern.

Hello Jonathan,

I have a 1984 Landrover Oneten LHD 5 door stationwagon, awaiting renovation. All original so import into the US is not a problem. Most of our rebuilds sell for 30 / 50 K.

Since I have 2 more of these I have to make a choice which one to restore. The good thing about these earlier trucks is that they have sliding windows and removable door tops so the truck can be very easily converted into the full soft top.

Pictures below.

More trucks on my website www.riverhousemini.com, inventory in STOCKLIST

Jonathan,

Look into this site. The owner (Matt) is a good, honest guy here in the Denver area, and legally imports nice trucks. https://www.facebook.com/RighteousTradingCo Tell him I sent ya.

Nice looking truck Mike. Especially the interior seats. They look stain free and still very healthy. GLWTS.

Thanks guys. I contacted Rightous Trading. He has one coming to Denver in a couple of weeks that I'll check out.

Tribe: I need a 5-door.

Johan: that has promise. I've been following your other posts too. As mentioned, I'm just going to yank the driveline. Straight body and frame is all I'm really interested in. Once I check out the one that's going to be local, I'll probably be ready to move on something soon.

Just fyi... there is also the one that ATX_D110 is selling. He lives pretty close to me, so I could take a look for you if you'd like.

Bought one from Matt @ Righteous Trading Co. Very clean South African 110 5-door. Buildup to start soon! Thanks for all the advice.
