Make sure that your bonnet prop rod is strong enough. I got whacked on the head from a series bonnet with a spare and NEVER AGAIN.

Thanks Sandt. Looks like the Paddock one is the way to go. Hey Tom, you say these are moddable for alloys...?

I appreciate all your help guys. I'm new to this Defender thing. Upgraded from a G Wagon about 6 months ago and am never looking back.

Anything for a guy that ditches a g-wagen for 90!
It's a bit hard to explain, but I put the piece that is meant to go in the center of the steel wheel under the boost wheel and had a guy put 3 lugs up through it. that then gets bolted down to the 2 threaded rods that come up through the bonnet.
I also shortened the 4 rubber bumpers and the 2 threaded rods so the wheel would sit closer to the bonnet.

Just FYI, the LR original kit I got from PAB included the bonnet prop rod in it. I gave it away though because I really like my scissor prop.

Here is the PA Blanchard.
I painted the bottom.
I had CitySide Garage do it while I had other work being done, so I can't comment to well how it went in.

I did my own. very easy install. just need the pop rivet gun and drill with bits. I did mine with chequer plating which makes for an even stronger install, but either way, recommend some kind of barrier between the steel plates and the alu bonnet. I used pond liner. if you use chequer plate, you'll need to get longer rivets that what is provided most likely. alu rivets should be fine, since rivets are not load bearing.

You guys are awesome. Thanks EVERYBODY for the input, as you're all much more helpful, smarter and better looking than those Mercedes guys I was used to dealing with.

Tom, I think I follow your rigging. Will give it the good old college try.

Pictures to follow in a few weeks once the mount comes and my wheels get powdercoated. Hoping to beat the snow!

*By the way, I went with the Paddock mount. Can't beat it for 49...
