WTB AWD Subaru Justy or Carolla FX 16

Looking for a all wheel drive Subaru Justy (1988 - 1994) or Toyota Carolla FX 16 (1987 - 1991) preferably a GT-S. Must be running and in good condition. Not looking for a beater but an everyday driver. Also not looking to low ball anyone for a good running car.
Thank you!
My commute is now around 70 miles per day and 13 mpgs is killin me.

I thought the Justy fell into the same category as a Yugo. Did not even remember them still being made into the 90s. Lol
Why not a Brat?

Todd,
Thank you for offering to check. I am only looking for an AWD as I am spoiled with the defender and the wife's S60R AWD.

Well since most of us are car guys you obviously know what type of car I am looking for...Of course if you going to drive a POS might as well drive kind of a rarity like the ones I am looking for. Wait, rare POS Subaru or Toyota hmmm rare Defender POS I am thinking I have a theme.

No nothing for rallying. I did the math on the gas savings compared to driving my 90 on a daily basis which I have done for the past 8 years and since I started a new job, I figured if I can get "the beauty of all wheel drive" in my price point and a fun little car

Both the Subi and the FX16 have been on the back of my mind for years but now I have a business case to get one with my new commute and I can run it by the wife who wears the pants. I think the FX16 has a more sophisticated engine management system then the Subi so I the gas mileage would not be as great but still anything over 30mpg would pay for itself in a year or less.

I love that you want a shitbox that is minimal 20 years old for your commute of 70 miles. Most of these things have turned to dust by now.

Why not look for a subaru brat or better yet a 1986 civic all wheel drive wagon.

You and I both know that in Cali they live on...but elsewhere yep.. O I can think of a lot of shitboxes that I wouldn't mind driving:
1981 Celica SunChaser or back further to a 73 or 74 celica gt
1984 Starion turbo
Remember the AWS accords.
Rare one is a Subaru GL convertible mid 80s.

I did think about the brat but on the off chance I need to stick a kid in the back in a carseat, I think local law enforcement and the wife would have a hard attack if I put them in the brat rear facing seats in the bead.

I didn't know they made a all wheel drive civic. Thanks Barry will add that one to the list.

I am surprised I haven't got the ole "why didn't you put in a diesel in the 90 rather than the gen III". Well I didn't think I would end up with a long commute in Raleigh but the job opportunity was too good to pass up just because of the commute.

I am actually going to laugh when I get one and have to roll up and down the windows and of course it will have the 80s smell to it. Somewhere between damp/musty with a mix of very old carpet. I will have to put on License til ill and grow out a mullet again.

What's the difference between a "beater" and an "everyday driver"?

To me they are essentially identical.

Also, insisting on a GT-S corolla is really a mistake. In good condition, they are rare and you're going to end up paying too much money for some imaginary street cred. In reality, nobody will care when you pull up in a hoopty mobile with 130hp. You're getting this thing to commute in, not impress pimply teenagers with their nose in Initial-D videos. Women will still ignore you.

Just get a bone stock 4A-FE with working air conditioning. I used to DD a 1991 AE92 and drove it from 150,000 to 230,000 miles @ 30mpg. After doing a full engine seal replacement and clutch, I donated it for a tax writeoff of $500 to NPR. It could have easily done 300,000 miles.

If you can't find an AE92, find a last-gen geo prizm. They're dirt cheap and identical to the corolla.

The difference between a beater and an everyday driver in my opinion is this. I can buy a new car and drive it everyday. It would be my daily driver. I would try to park it in safe spots and make it last.
When it gets older and has dings, scratches, and rust holes, but is reliable enough to drive everyday, that is a beater.

Justly. Sat in one once. If it hadn't been for the sunroof, I wouldn't have fitted

Gets not really important as considering I am happily married I would want to be ignore so the fx16 awful seems a good choice on top if the other suggestions as well. The cicic wagons are a little harder to find. I am with Luis on the beater vs. daily driver. I drive my 99 everyday and would not consider it a beater.
Todd thanks for checking

I saw a Subaru 2.5 RS 2 door today and thought of this thread. Always loved the 22B but 2.5RS is cool too.
