Here's another high amp switch for killing power to a battery, rated for 600A:

Blue sea also has this one which is good for 500A, which you can trip remotely with a switch on the dash or manually:

You don't need a kill switch for a winch.

Buy marine grade cable where each strand is individually solder-dipped. The terminals are exposed to the weather and you don't want the wire corroding away.

Run it in heater hose. Clamp it to the wheel wells with stainless omega clamps. Here's a pic from my old truck:

Regarding kill switches, I added one as well for two reasons: 1) added safety measure and more importantly B) I have read about pranksters/vandals out there that have figured out how to short the remote socket for the winch. they put the winch in free spool, run the winch cable over the top of the vehicle and it hook it on the back bumper, then lock the winch clutch and short it..all for the purpose of watching the vehicle crush itself and causing needless damage. particularly with an overland vehicle with foregin travel in mind, I didn't want any of that business.

Just one example: http://www.4x4earth.com.au/forum/gen...vandalism.html

Disappointed in the lack of photo evidence.

Just a heads up to everyone else looking- You can get some good heavy gauge cabling out of late model BMW's in the junk yard. They have a trunk mounted battery and the cable runs up the the front of the car to a distribution point. IIRC I pulled a cable out of an e39 at the scrappy and it was a good 6-8 feet long, don't know the exact gauge - id say maybe about the diameter of my pinky below the knuckle.

Here's a pic i sniped from an ebay ad, they say its 13 feet long for the e39 item..
