They were used on very early RRC painted silver. and also a few years worth of Defenders. Even then think only County models got them. Defender editions were painted white.

I don't know about the brakes, only their unreliability.

eBay UK has boat loads. If you want some talk to one of the suppliers that regularly brings over containers. Might take a while to get them though.
