Wanted newer shifter for lt77

Swapped a new to me lt77 in this weekend and my old shifter must be really old. It doesnt sit high enough. The new transfer case shifter is taller and now they hit.

Looking for newer style please.

Anthony

Hmmm.... I don't think there are new and old style.

There is Disco/RR style (short stick) and Defender style (long stick). They are not interchangable. Maybe some pictures of what you have installed to clear up the confusion.

The one installed on my friends rover in the picture is what i need. The other is what came off my other transmission.

The installed one in that picture is the correct normal one. They are all the same from day one, AFAICT. No clue what the loose one is from. Looks like one from an LT85. You sure the old gearbox was an LT77?

Gearbox and transfer case were original as far as I can tell to the 83 110 which is a lt77. The shift lever for the tcase was really short and awkward to use compared to mine (as pictured). We replaced the original tcase linkage with the later style and that is when I noticed the interference issue. What he needs is what I have in mine for the shift lever.

Its been nearly a fortnight since you first posted wanting a gear lever, after the first week I'd given up and look else where, Roversnorth, Paddockspares and johncraddock all list it. FRC7493

you could have shipped one from the UK and had it now

Thank you for the reply. Yep, it's been a while. I realize when I signed up for the Defender, I needed deep pockets. My pockets have holes. I was trying to find a much cheaper solution than buying a new one.

You might try calling the A list parts suppliers directly here in the US as well.

Really? Parts for Defenders are super cheap, IMO. Certainly cheaper than other vehicles. Not sure I would see $100 for a new gear lever (maybe $150 with shipping) a pocket holing type of expense.
