Wanted: 1997 Defender 90 ST

So I officially regret selling my 97 ST a year ago and time to get back in the game.

Looking for a very nice 97 D90 Soft Top. Ideally looking for one from a D90 member that's the type to replace anything that's not mint, any and all maintenance done, etc. I'm willing to pay the premium for it so up to $50K for a truly nice one. Will not turn down an ultra low mileage example but not necessarily what I'm looking for - more so one from an OCD owner that's slowly updated/upgraded all the little things.

I've got my favorite colors and upgrades I love (i.e. Badger top) and don't like (i.e. any armor plating) but open to any super nice 97 - no projects. Really want a ST but will consider a SW if it's even mintier. If someone's done a nice auto conversion on a 94/95 open to that as well but for family/friend's driving sake really need an auto.

If anyone with a 97 ST on the board has casually considered selling theirs for the right price let me know the details.

I scan ebay, autotrader, craiglist so aware of what all's out there - more so this post is to find a D90 member looking to sell their 97. I've subscribed to the thread but sending me a PM is probably easier. I'll also send a few PMs to the handful of mint looking 97s I've stalked in the registry over the past few months so apologies in advance for asking a few of you directly

The last time I tried to help you out with this you sold it immediately. What types of assurances can we have that you will not do this again?

Have you also tried making an offer-he-can't-refuse to the guy you sold yours to?

Fair to ask - didn't quite sell mine immediately although 8 months after buying it was short no doubt - guy made me an offer I couldn't refuse at the time. Was also eventually moving to NYC which nudged me to sell then as well. I'll keep the next one but looking for the perfect one so not in a rush.

Yep. Still available. I sold my 110 so I haven't been as active in trying to sell this one. I've had a few offers but nothing has materialized.

JQ11, I sold my '97 back in 2010 and regretted it until buying a 1995 last year. Completely understand. I don't mind going from an auto to a manual but if you have others who need to drive it, it makes sense. Good luck in your search. I think at your price point you should be able to find something that suits your needs.

Thanks and agree, most vehicles I've owned have been manual so definitely about family/friend use - I might end up going manual with this one too but going to stick to auto for the hunt as of now. Still looking...

Still looking for a nice 97 Soft Top - will also now consider a 95 as well. Must be in great shape and well maintained - willing to spend ~$50k on a nice 97 a little less for a 95 but if even remotely considering selling I'm interesting in hearing the details.
Thanks!

Thanks for thinking of the thread and posting - I saw that one above last week, not exactly the one for me but thanks for posting. Really just want a 97 soft top - would buy a SW but it would have to be very very mint.

You should buy that LE and a NAS soft top cage. I've seen a couple of LEs turned into soft tops (obviously keep all of the stuff that makes it an LE for the next owner) and they look awesome.

Sounds like the boys at East Coast Rover have what you've been looking for. Might need to bump your budget up a bit though.

Considering they want $75k for just a 1997 SW, yeah I'd say you may be priced out of the black one.
