If you're going black, here's the "gold standard" as far as I'm concerned

I love it when people have disposable income.

It helps boost the economy

Must bite tongue about gold standard. If you are in LA and want a blue one, I will sell you mine for the right price

I am in LA, but it has to be black or yellow and in the $20ks, so I expect high mileage.

------ Follow up post added October 26th, 2010 04:31 PM ------

this is beautiful, but i am sure that it is out of my price range -- tight budget

------ Follow up post added October 26th, 2010 04:42 PM ------

Budget: low to mid $20s
Condition: I am realistic but not stupid (if that can be true of a Defender buyer). I expect mileage in the 90-100s, but want a clean vehicle. Rust and leakage always a concern, of course. I have seen a lot of extraordinary junk for high dollars, and I suppose that there is one born every minute, but I hope that it is not me. I particularly love the sellers showing a totally trashed truck that was last lubed or oiled at its port of entry, has to be pointed downhill or engine has to be jump started, runs in one gear, transfer case sounds like an accident, who invariably says, "well, of course, its a 16 year old car, be realistic. You'll never find one any better than this."
So, if you've got one that you think can pass muster, please get to me. Thanks.

Yellow ill be easier than black for sure. I might know of a black one that is decent with questionable mileage as the odometer was replaced but still a good truck. It is a black 94. I think high 20s

How about one never been trailed perfectly mint D-90 a regular urban cruiser with the only off road action is running over sprinkler heads. Hee hee. No I would sell baby not after all we have been through.

Seriously I purchased mine for about $20K with 260K on the clock and onlly synthetic lubricants were used inside the truck (engine, tranny diffs - get your minds out of the gutters). It was a great truck until I just had to mess with it with lifting and axles and limited slips and frame armor and blah blah blah.

It is not uncommon for the engine to leak coolant and or oil out of the back of the heads and this goes for all rover V8s just beware of rust and if you 2nd gear on an LT77 tranny. O... and rust around the bulkhead which you can check for just by undoing the windscreen. Does it have to be a NAS?

Not sure how much an import runs...anyone? Love to have a 110 double cab.

That second link I posted...give that dude a call. $21k, looks awesome (in my opinion at least), black with the fast back configuration...and if you really like the full rack look, there are some up for grabs now and again.
