Various Parts I Want:

I'm just gonna throw this out there and see what happens. I don't have the garage cleaned out yet to start this project, but I figure I need to get this thread up and running so I can maybe jump on the part when it comes up.

All for the 1988 110:
  1. 4.2 or 4.6 engine. (Would prefer 4.2 w/ECU)
  2. NAS/Saudi Spec dash bits (Almost entire dash needs replacing)
  3. NAS/Saudi Spec bulkhead (Mine is probably repairable, but...)
  4. Good condition black or grey interior carpeting
  5. Good condition interior trim for rear cargo area
I would rather not deal with shipping, but for the right price....

Ian Rodgers, the owner/LR master tech of the shop I go to in Napa, British Auto Repair, has a 4.2 he fully rebuilt sitting on the shelf. I can get the particulars or you can call him if interested. I'd be happy to RURR it up to you if you're interested.

Curious why anyone would want to stick with the ventless bulkhead and the a/c system parts are nla for ? Any bulkhead can be made left or right hand drive but the vent issue is a bigger one as is that unique (being nice here) heater box , a/c system

I have the carpets out of a NAS110 as well as most of the A/C unit and NAS specific dash bits. Let me know if it will help you.

Since you are in no hurry, someone had a 4.2 in pieces listed FS recently.

Wait... Doug, do you mean:

Why stick with the Saudi Spec?

Sounds like you are saying to switch to standard vented bulkhead, but then you say those are more unique, so I'm not following.

In my mind, I'm looking for possible NAS/Saudi dash in good condition, good price. Because that is what is on the truck. But if that does not happen, I'm going to standard vented dash and bulkhead.

Do you have any input on that idea?

Will do! The 4.2 in pieces that was listed for sale recently on here was by madcowdungbeetle and was a hot-rodded unit. I think he might have parted it out though. Thought about buying it myself, but went 4.6 instead.

I'm going pretty stock, but will have minor upgrades and such. Even the fact that I'm looking for a 4.2 does not mean I won't go Tdi in the future. It's just that it seems a long shot right now, in the mean time, I want the truck to be good enough for long trips. The 3.5 just won't do it here in the West... well, it will... but... you know....

The standard vented bulkhead and heater box are improvements both in appearance and function over the Saudi spec stuff that started in 1983 and was discontinued with the NAS 110 in 93. The underdash a/c while it does take some leg room away are available from multiple sources.

The standard lhd dash or td5 dash are both better looking than the Saudi/NAS spec imo

I can get a good 4.2 for quite a bit less here in town, with computer and wires.

BUMP: Does anyone in Oregon or Washington have interior trim for a Defender 110. Window surrounds, etc...?

Is there anyone on the West Coast who parts out 90/110's? I know several Rover specialists, but wondering if anyone just "has stuff" on a regular basis.

I have a 4.2 in great running condition. It was a will Tillery motor. I pulled it for a diesel swap a few months past and it is just taking up room in my garage. Feel free to pm me if you are interested. I'd give you a good deal but shipping is always difficult...

I know of a stock 4.6 supposed to be in good running order complete out of a 2004 disco for $600 in Idaho. Let me know if you want the info.
