Under Tub support (Crosstube)

Need one of these for a '94 D-90 ST. Anything from "reasonable" to "like-new" condition considered.

tub support

Andrew,
I have one in black powdercoated one.
Tim,
I could have the machine shop copy it for you...but kinda like my light bar replicating project which someone else went ahead and ran with I don't want to waste my time dropping it off, getting a quote and then no response. If you really need one and no one replies with an extra I can get you a quote on copying it.

Option 2 - Tim/Andrew,
Are just your ends (where it bolts to the tub) rusted or is the hole bar rusted out? I have seen mostly where the ends get all crusty. One option would be:
1. get replacement end pieces,
2. mark how the end should fit on the bar with a marker to get the angle right before you cut them off
3. and just weld new ends on the bar or have a muffler shop cut and do it.
May be an easy fix.
So I could check to see what the ends would cost but I need some type of commitment on how serious you guys are.

On a side not Ron P. may have an extra hole one so he may end up responding to your ad.
Clay

Mine has been collecting water and rusting from the inside- a galvanized replacement is what I'm looking for. I'd be interested in hearing what it would cost to replicate it. If it's reasonable, I'd be in for one for sure!

The tube is in pretty good shape, it's just the ends that have rusted off. How much do you want for your black powder coated one? I assume you're offering it for sale? If not, I would definitely be interested in new fabricated ends. Thanks for your help.

P.M. me the price if your prefer not to post here.

Thanks

Andrew

Tim/Andrew,
I am going by the machine shop to take pics of the replicated 3rd brake light mount and will get you a price on replicating one and on just the ends.
Clay
O BTW what #s are your 94s? Just for giggles. Want to how close our 94 AA Yellows are off the production line.

Mine's #559. I think it will be changing color soon though. Don't really like the AA Yellow, might go Epson Green with a tan/beige top.

Did I read your first post wrong Clay? Where you offering a powder coated crosstube for sale?

Thanks

Andrew

I got one galvanized earlier this year from Dave Lucas. You might try him.

Clay, my Porto Red came off the line 10 trucks before yours! They probably shared a shipping container to the states.

Edit: somewhat off topic, but does anyone know how difficult it is to swap this bar out? Still haven't had time to attack it.

tub support

Andrew,
Sorry for the delay. I dropped off the bar this morning in order to get a cost on replicating both the bar and just the ends. Yes you are correct in my initial reply I did have a bar that I was contemplating selling. I now am thinking about having the bar replicated that way I know the cost. In addition to getting a price on just the end pieces for folks to fix their rusted ends. My goal on this forum is to help people with their trucks as it is really not lucrative for me to run between a machine shop and a powder coater in what little spare time I have. If I can help more than one member that is my goal. I will let you know ASAP on the price as soon as the machine shop gets back to me. I hope the above makes sense. I have attached a picture of the tub support that will be used to make the replicas provided the cost is agreeable.

Andrew and Tim,
Should have some prices by tomorrow. Jerod - not to sure how hard it is - I will look at the project truck. Might be easy to cut in half install and reweld rathat than trying to remove the tub if that is necessary.
Clay
P.S. I need to replace my crusty ends too which is partially why I am looking in to replicating it. My truck was originally from the Northeast.

Andrew/Tim,
The shop thinks they can do a replica for about $230 so Andrew you would be getting a new replica for $230. The can also reproduce just the ends for about $100 a piece. I think I may have them make me up some ends so I can replace the crusty ones on my truck . Please let me know if anyone is interested in the above.

That's sounds good Clay. Put me down for one.

My only reservation is that it will be dimensionally accurate. The alignment needs to be pretty accurate.

Does is come powder coated or bare metal?

Thanks

Andrew

cross tube

Andrew,
They do a really good job and reproductions. It would come in either bare metal or spray can black. I think powder coating would be about another $30. If you want to get it powder coated, I can get it dropped off at the powder coaters at the same time that they are doing the 3rd brake light bars. The price qouted was an estimate and it may stick or drop a little (in which case I will let you know ASAP) as the owner did not make one up but rather went off of what he thinks it will take. I will PM with my Paypal information and once payment is received, I can get them going on a complete tube for you.
Regards,
Clay

I'm interested, PM the shipping info and we can make the deal. I'd be interested if this could be galvanized or poser Oates before shipment if possible.

tube

Tim,
PM you. the shop can do an extra coat zinc primer coat for rust prevention, which I think would probably run around another $15 or so. It is just a tube so it can't be that expensive I would assume.
Clay

------ Follow up post added August 2nd, 2011 05:23 PM ------

O...BTW in all my stupidity the price doesn't include shipping but let's see what the shop can do them for and we just might end up being o.k. So right now the price is looking like $260 plus shipping (or less) for a powder coated version. Any savings on these things will be returned to the purchaser.
