Tuffy Storage Boxes

I have the Tuffy super security storage trunk but it is too big for my needs. I am looking of one (1) of the tuffy wheel well storage lock boxes (the right hand one) if anyone has one. Thanks

Ron;

Interested! I do not have tuffy boxes however I do make fender well tool boxes. You can see the post under the Custom Mods section of this site. I would be willing to work a trade if your interested? Does your storage drawer have the dividers?

Troy, it's the storage trunk, not the drawer with optional dividers. I think it is AB part number 9703. I'm looking for something to fit on the wheel well platforms deep enough to be usefull, but not get in the way...

Follow-up Post:

I looked through an older version of the AB catalog here at the office and see that the Tuffy wheel well storage boxes look puny. They are 6.5" tall!! So I think I will try out the super security storage trunk on the wheel well like I had planned with the smaller unit and see if it just too big or not.

At worst I can build something or perhaps find something Army surplus that I can use for much less than the $280 plus Tuffy stuff. Does Pelican make a storage box or is their line limited to portable cases?

No problem! I would encourage you to check out the storage boxes I have been making. They are not simply square boxes. They are contoured to the shape of the rear quarters so they are much more usefull boxes. Plus the big bonus is they are only $175 each. I think Ken Loyd did a nice write up and post on them in the Custom Mods Section. Let me know!

Thanks!

I also have a set of Troys boxes and can say they are top notch. The link to them is here: http://www.defendersource.com/mod/toolbox/index.htm
They are the only boxes currently made I know of that purposely make use of the normally wasted space under the tub rim as the more generically produced products which does add up to a lot of extra, protected stoage space. The quality is great and as you can see from the write up, making them lockable is a breeze.

Ron, Here's the writeup that Troy did (with a few pics from me): http://www.defendersource.com/mod/toolbox/index.htm

I think these wheel-well boxes are great. Cheaper and bigger than the Tuffy's. AND, if you're coming to MAR, you can see them in person before buying. Perhaps Troy would bring a few with him for sale. If you have the rollcage tube that runs overtop the wheelwell, these will protrude into the bed. I think that Troy made some without the added bump-out.

Troy, one little design issue for the next run, when I put on my tonneau, the toolboxes stretch it just a little too much since they stand about 1/4" above the bed walls. It might fit, though, for those guys without the rubber mat.

Troy, you still have some for sale? I tried the Super Security Storage Trunk and it fits over the wheel well nicely. Only there's the space behind the trunk that your unit utilizes. How heavy (lbs) is one of your boxes Troy?

I will be at MAR, I could pick one up from you there.

I do have some avaliable and I can bring one to MAR to save you on shipping. They weight aroung 27 pounds. I am guessing shipping to you would run around $10.00 or so if you would like to have it by MAR. Just let me know.

Are you in for one box if I bring it to MAR? I am trying to figure out how much space I will have based upon how many boxes I will be bringing down.
