trailer harness question:

is there a way to get a "7 pin" to "4 pin"?
is there an adapter - or - just cut and rewire with the 4 pin?

There is an adapter out there. I'm not sure where to pick up a new one but I got one on here used.

1. Coat the inside of the socket with vaseline on a q-tip
2. Take a short 4-wire pigtail and solder on bullet connectors, plug into in correct places
3. Mix up plastic epoxy and envelop connectors and about an inch of the wiring
4. 2 hours later you'll have an adapter, no hacking of wires needed.

I've got an adapter that I got from evilfij, essentially a shorter (cheaper) version of this:
http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/9438.cfm

However, now that I'm towing the Sankey I'm actually using the UK wiring on the 110 and fab'ing up a UK-style harness to go from the NAS 90 to the Sankey since it has separate brake lights from turn signals (whereas the US trailer wiring combines the two, which I don't like and doesn't mesh well with the Sankey).

More info than you wanted, but there you go.

While the 7 pin to flat four is all well and good, if I'm not mistaken, the lights won't work right. You'll need the 9439A kit.
