Trade my 1.2 for your 1.4 lt230

I am looking to trade transfer cases with someone! It would be preferable to find someone around the NYC metro area or at least the northeast to do a one day swap as opposed to pulling the thing, shipping it, waiting for another one!

Thanks

Worse case scenario I'll send you a 1.4 that I have...

Fair question - it's too hilly around here for the om617 with a 1.2. I can see it being a great setup in flatland, but it's just the wrong gearing around here. I also don't have enough low rpm power before the turbo spools to get started on even slight grades. I've been on a few highways and it's great when it flattens out... The om617 holds enough boost to maintain 65 at low rpm with the 1.2... But once I hit a hill I'm down in 4th or 3rd again to hold 45-55

A 1.4 is not going to solve a highway problem. You won't go any faster on a hill. Just a different gear. If 5th works on the flats then the gearing is correct. Shifting down for a hill is what you are supposed to do. That is why you get a of those gears.

Maybe not, but it will solve my 1st gear problem so I'm still looking for a 1.4. I would argue that it will help my highway problem because 4th will give me the right Rpms to hold 55 on my regular hills

Basically you new 5th will be the same as your current 4th. Try driving now without using 5th as that is what it will be like.

A first gear problem is a valid reason to change. Could probably fix it by tuning the engine though.

This may sound off the wall but ...
When I run 8oz of the silver bottled Power Service in 15 gallons of diesel the power to pull hills GREATLY increases, and allows me to push through strong winds & climb hills.
It's astonishing what is basically a double shot of the additive will do.

I think this is what I'm seeing when I see east coast station signs selling "Premium" diesel.
I'm running a 1.2 also with a Zf4hp22 behind a 300Tdi.

Had the same experience (200tdi) 1.4 gearing is quite adequate and top speed is a little "high rev" without pushing the engine. It is good for overtaking as the engine is in the right rpm band...
