These are harder to find than OEM roofracks. I didn't even know they were available new...

Ades right.. if you want to cheap route it, you better get your vulture sitting skills on. Those have never been widely available items.

Build one or have one built that looks stock. Scour the 'net for pics (might be some on this site) - I think.

Found planty of pics but no dimensions. Another thing is that they're usually mounted in the pic and it's tough to see how it all comes together. A sheet of mdf and some marine carpet would do the trick to build a sweet box but I'd be shooting in the dark on all the sizes.

I am about to start a rear subwoofer box build up for my 90. I am going to build the one like ECR ( the box does not extend to cover the handle). The plan so far is to use a finish grade plywood to construct the box via trim nails, L brackets on the inside and caulk. Then we will rhino line the box to match the rear tub area.

The only thing we cannot decide on is the actual sub selection. I am torn between two eights, one ten or one 12 inch sub. I really like the idea two eights, however I want to keep a factory look so I will probably go with the ten or twelve inch.

Anyway, I will take some pics and post info as the project unfolds.

Jonathan, I have one that been in storage in my garage for the past two years. My personal belief that there are not worth a crap. I end up fab up with two ten inch subs. Fits perfectly and sound so much better than the stock one. I paint it with spray on bedliner with four cans.

Tom,
That's F***ING awesome! I would love it even more if it came without the sub. I ahve 2 perfectly good 10" MB Quart subs in a box at home that I really want to mount in my D.

Alright guys, I have finally started the subwoofer box for the rear door. As usual, it takes me 4 months to start anything. After looking all over the net, including ECR, I decided to build the box as close to the factory box without the plastic cover. I have taken a lot of pics and will post a full build up as soon as I have everything completed. I ended going with a 10" Kenwood Marine sub. I think everything is going to turn out sweet!
