That's definitely a deal and priced right! I bet it's gone before Christmas!

I hope you can find someone to go look at this for you, it seems like a reasonable asking price. And I agree with the others, this will go quickly.

I don't know if it's just the way the photos were taken, but it appears to be listing towards that passenger side of the truck, suspension issue?

the exhaust is non-existant,
http://s188.beta.photobucket.com/use...ml?sort=3&o=20
the body has at least one fairly major ding, the top needs to be replaced, the fuel tank cradle looks like crap in 5 bar, although it takes some skill to be able to make one like he did. Doors are starting to rust in the handles. No radio or speakers?

One good thing is that it appears that a board member owns it based on the aluminum vent cover via Buckon37s, but not sure who
http://s188.beta.photobucket.com/use...ml?sort=3&o=28

But as I told Matt, it's an Arles Blue "rare" truck, nicely outfitted with A/C, rack, etc. although the A/C compressor needs to be replaced. He'd be above $30k pretty quickly by tackling the stuff outlined above, but he'd have a nice truck that already presents well from a few feet away. I say strongly consider it!

Delamination of rear cross but otherwise mostly camera flash.

Cheap with the rack! I bet it's sold.

nothing looks too bad there.... especially for an almost 20 yr. old truck. From what little we can see, the crossmember looks fine -buy it and drive it!!! (after you get a new exhaust system!)

No speakers in the back either. Looks like new backstay door cards. Wiring appears to all be there.

So who got it?

Now this Arles Blue truck is in that low to mid 20's range that you said you wanted to be in, in order to fix it up and have it worth more...this seems like a no brainer...

the rear crossmember isn't going to fall off tomorrow, nor are the doors - the exhaust may, but that's about it.

DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully you're not kicking yourself too much then, but that was pretty much as to be expected. Truck took 3 days to sell - less than one once it was posted here - that should give you a good idea on value for it. Someone from LA will likely be relisting it for $35-40k soon enough.

the search continues...

I'm not stressed about it, I want to look/drive at what I want to buy so my search is going to have to stay local it seems.

In memoriam.

1994 Land Rover Defender 90 - $25000 (Baytown)

Date: 2012-12-17, 10:57AM CST
Reply to this post Reply to: 52vwx-3484347760@sale.craigslist.org[?]

Engine runs great. Equipped with AC (which is rare) but compressor needs to be rebuilt (not working). AC worked great before the compressor quit working. 82,000 Miles. $25,000 Came equipped with front wrap-around brush guard and center Tuffy console, 2 Hella Pencil Beam fog lights mounted on brush bar, Best Top soft top, Best Top Bikini top, Spare tire is BFG MT (looks brand new and has never been mounted since I have owned the Defender)

Have since added LR rear bench seat, Safety Devices full safari roof rack with ladder, LR rear break light bar, new front interior door panels, wingtop protectors (Bearmach), steering guard skid plate (Bearmach), fuel tank skid plate (homemade diamond plate), LR front floor mats (originals were dry rotted and had to be discarded).

Repairs include: Water pump, thermostat, ECU, fuel relays (twice), clutch master cylinder, AC High pressure hose, radiator rebuilt, alternator rebuilt, belts, hoses, new Optima Yellow top battery, Rear bumper/hitch receiver has been powder coated, Dayton Timberline Mud Tires (about 8000 miles on them)

Condition of accessories:
Soft Top -- Functions just fine as is (needs repair to one of the rear window zippers-a tear needs to be resewn). However, I would recommend replacing the soft top. It is difficult to install in warm weather and nearly impossible in cold weather. This Defender is garage kept so I leave the top off and drive it only when the weather is pleasant. Most would agree that Badger Coachworks makes a very good product that fits very well, is reasonably priced, and is easy to install and remove.

Front brush bar & rear brake light bar -- These two items need to be powder coated because coating is coming off in certain areas and bare metal is rusty.

Repairs Needed: Tail pipe is rusted and needs to be replaced

That truck is way too rusty for goldilocks. Looks like it needs a frame swap or the owner needs a better camera.

I thought he said that one wasn't right.

I do wonder about his criteria. Must be rust free but can have body, interior, and engine issues. Clearly he isn't looking at the whole package. You can end up spending serious money on that crap and rust may just require a wire wheel.

Horsey really needs to show him the way.
