Southdown Stainless Snorkel

Hi, I am looking for a new (or slightly used but complete) Southdown Stainless Snorkel kit for a NAS D90. Jim at Southdown, USA said he is out of stock and would probably not be getting any more kits that would have the roll bar mounting bracket for the NAS D90. Thanks.

Try www.tntlr.com, that's where I picked mine up two years ago.

Can you make one out of stainless pipe and some flex tube or is it WAY more intricate than that?

The Southdown snorkel goes through the wing top and outer wing panel just in front of the roll cage. Because of this, they include a nice 'grommet' to finish off this area. They also have a nice top peice that allows air to enter from a single direction and can be spun around based on conditions. These items make it preferable to find one of these kits instead of trying to fabricate one. I think I can still get this kit directly from the UK, but these do not come with the special bracket to attach to the NAS roll cage though this bracket shouldn't be hard to make.

Kip, that bracket, is barely even a bracket. It's basically some stainless that was shaped to fit around the roll cage and reconnect with itself. You sould make some out of aluminum flashing for the same effect. Just cut with some shears and bend bare handed.

Looks like I just may try to get a kit from the UK since a rool bar bracket can be easily fabricated. Thanks for the suggestions.

Has anyone looked into aluminum pipe? Light weight and strong. Also, what's the diameter that is used for snorkels?

2.5" I believe. I have built a few. But the flex hose is hard to come by.

That link that Dave posted regarding the garage exhaust hose looks pretty good! All and all it looks like it'd be pretty easy to fab a snorkel MUCH cheaper than buying one.

The garage exhaust hose works well. Stands up to the temp variants you have in an engine bay. It's quality stuff.

I "heard" you could purchase the top portion of the ARB snorkels (Safari snorkels). But I'm not 100% on that.

Don't see why you couldn't use it. I'll look into it when I get to the fab. shop tomorrow.

Also, Pendy, you have any drawings of what you did (or a quick explanation)? I don't want to muck it up.

The Centri's are about $150. They list for $176.60. If someone has an industrial account at a farm place, they could probably get them for $100. I have seen both the mantec and the safari tops for sale--the safari are around $100 and the mantec for around $70. I will try and find the link.

We've got industrial accounts. If someone can find the source I can order them.

Lots of manufacturers out there for pre-cleaners. Here are two others.
