Soft top vertical support rods/bars needed

Hello, D90 team-

I'm looking for a set of the 95-97 LRNA/Bestop vertical behind-door support rods and also perhaps a set of the Badger top-style gutter support bars.

I'm experimenting with replacements for the RN top that came with my 94, as it leaks even more than most STs, especially behind the doors. I bought one of the new Bestop tops from AB, and while removing the RN top, noticed that my truck doesn't have the vertical rods. (I'd forgotten that 94s didn't come with them.)

I've also picked up the four necessary galvanized gutter kit parts so often recommend here, and I can either fab up mounting brackets for them or find a set of the Badger-style mounting bars. I plan to eventually put on a set of SW doors once I get them painted, and am trying to plan ahead for the use of these.

Photos below are of the parts I'm seeking, and I was able to find the photos while searching older for sale and wanted listings. Thanks to those folks who posted the photos.

Thanks!
Murph

Thanks, Ron!

I'd planned to buy a Badger top and expect that I eventually will, but the cost right now is a little steeper than I can rationalize shelling out with all I'm already doing to the truck. I'd hoped to make what I have work a little better for now.

Do you have a set of the Bestop style rods or the other, Badger gutter brackets? What would you like for them?

Bracket 1 is the vertacals for a 1997 Best Top,

picture 2 looks like the badger vertacals that are used in conjuction with the gutter kit and gutter mounts
i have 1 but you need the 97 top as there is a pocket that this slides into.

Yep.

According to the info that came with the Bestop top, it's the "97" one with the fabric loops/pockets/channels for the rods. Those in picture 1 are the ones I'm looking for for immediate use.

Picture 2 is the Badger verticals, which I'm also interested in finding for experimentation in the spriing. If you have those, I'm also game to buy a set from you.

How exactly do those verticals work?
I have a set in a box somewhere - and my non-GK Badger seals up fine without.
Anyone have pics of them installed to share?

If you're talking about picture 2 from above, there is a fatter vertical metal part to the GK (not pictured) that bolts into that vertical piece. The top portion of a complete door seal "slides" into this, and the fatter vertical piece I mentioned before is the piece that helps to tuck the top in behind the doors.

That will explain it better than my words.

Hi, Woody-

Based on my research (and looking at the installation instructions that came with the 97-style Bestop), the hooked-top rods slide through the sewn-in top channel behind each door and hook at the top onto the 5-snap door top horizontal bars you also need (and I fortunately have). All this stuff is used when you are NOT using the galvanized gutter kit parts for a gutter-kit type softtop.

As I understand it and from looking at both the Bestop I picked up from AB and the RN top that came with my truck, these soffttops can not be used with the gutter kit parts without modifying the tops. (They snap to and/or around the horizontal and vertical rods/bars.)

The other Badger-style bars I'm looking for in my thread hold the galvanized gutter kit parts in place and necessitate removal of the aforementioned vertical and horizontal rods/bars. I intend to eventually pick up a Badger top from Chris or find a truck cab style-one, perhaps the one that Roland out in CA was listing a short time ago. (if still available and I sell myself on a tan top on a yellow truck.)

Basically, a 97 Bestop and the RN tops use a fabric door seal as Chris at Badger calls it.

Hope this helps you in your search, too, and please correct me if I'm wrong, experts out there.

Murph

Thanks for the link, Josh. Exactly what I was describing.

Thanks both of you - very helpful!
I have the Bestop vertical rails in a box along with the metal thingy that goes along the bottom of the back window but didn't think they were usable with my Badger FDS. The Badger came with long flat metal inserts that fit in pockets down the leading edges, which is why I figured the Bestop supports weren't req'd. Will have a look this wkend.

If after monkeying around with them I determine I can't use 'em - I can put them up for sale here. I have an extra set of snap rails too. Plus a couple extra complete Bestops and a Bimini top (or is it called a Bikini top?!) that I'll post for sale. Charles you got first right of refusal on the 9/10 Bestop though-

Sorry to completely hijack your thread Murph!
