Appreciate that man! Yep, I believe it's a Mantec design. Just figured I'd see if anyone had a used one first.

I don't think you're missing anything. They have lots of intake options, but none for an NAS V8 truck (which would be the wingtop mounted kit).

If you hang around they pop up on here about once a month. In the past six months, snorkels have sold from $75 to $400 here on the board.

I was a hair late on that last one. Thanks again!

Hey Todd,

I know you were looking in May but just saw this post. Not sure if you got one yet? I have a Raised air intake for a LHD NAS Defender. It's a complete kit and only used for 6 months before being removed. It's been in a box for the last 18 months. I'm posting it tonight but figured I would send a post just to check. The asking price is 400. or BO plus ship

Cheers
Scott

For what it is worth, I had a muffler shop bend me up one for my truck and I cut a piece of steel for the wing top vent and welded that on. I got a mantec style mushroom cap from ebay for $40. Total for everything was about $100. Just another option--I know not everyone has access to a welder.

Nice Job! I have built at least a Doz raised air intakes over the years. This is a total factory kit and for someone who wants to keep their truck factory original. I have a tdi hybrid and have already built a new one and had it hot dipped. Just trying to decide what type of cap I'm going to use. I'm leaning towards a tractor version I can get at the Case dealer. I debated modifying this one to make it work for my needs but in the end didn't want to screw with a nice unmolested part.

Cheers,
Scott

I'm definitely interested in hearing about your DIY.
In terms of sourcing the parts and any relocation/modification needed to the truck!
Thanks!

Basically I looked at all the kit online and figured that I could do it much cheaper. I started at Autozone and found a 3" flexible tubing kit that I used to go through the fender. I removed the stock plastic cover piece and cut a 3" whole in the middle with a dremel. I took some left over fuel tubing, made a slit in it lengthwise, and fit it around the rough cut that I just made as a gasket of sorts. The tubing kit was conveniently threaded, so I spun it into the new whole that I made until it was at the desired length. I connected this to the air box under the hood with some vacuum cleaner hose. The top part is just some PVC pine that I found, and the breather head is like $16 on Amazon. I connected all of it with band clamps. The only part of the whole set up that was from a snorkel originally is the mounts that connect it to the frame of the car.

I hope you get the idea! I can make a D.I.Y. post with photos also if there's interest.

If you want a "nice" homemade solution, without spending a lot, pickup a Southdown wing moulding and bend your own tube and supply your own hose.
