Small Tach Gauge For 200TDI

I have an '84 d-90 with a 200 tdi disco motor. My cluster of gauges on this right hand drive rig includes the speedo, the temp. gauge and the fuel gauge. The far right small opening in my instrument cluster has a factory "blank" in it. I've seen some of these instrument clusters with a tachometer in that spot. I would like to add one. Does anyone have a proper LR tach hanging around or can you suggest a source. Would the tach have to be from a 200tdi to work properly?
Thanks in Advance for any info,
Mike

Ditto, I just did it on my 110, looks perfect
There's a pic in my 110 build
You could also go clock. But the tach is only like $75 and hooks up to the post on back of the alt marked W

Yes, just get a VDO. The only downside is that you will want to replace the rest of them because they are so much nicer..

The VDO fuel gauge works on the original sender for the older tanks like ours and the temp is a simple sender swap. I just ordered them last week, I think they were $25 each
The temp sender was $43.

Any 2-1/16" one will fit. 333-156 (for 4000 rpm) or 333-158 (for 6000 rpm).

On the diesel the tach will run off the alternator. You need to make sure that the Alternator has the post, center bottom. Like the others I used the VDO 52mm gauge, 133-156. You can use the light connection from the old clock if fitted or run a jumper from one of the other gauge lights. You will also need to run an electrical wire to the Alternator and one for a ground. The gauge fits perfect in the dash. The gauge does have an adjustment in the back but I forget what notch I left mine on. Maybe some others can pipe up on that. The other guys are 100% correct about the brightness of the new Tach, it will be much brighter than the other gauges.
