Available now!

Derek's rack is available now. :p

If anything, you might have to wait a week or so for the next batch run, they're selling so fast. He was telling me he just shipped three (or was it five) racks to a company who was going to resell them for more, I presume.

It mounts to factory points, lines up perfectly. Unless you really know the nuances of the SD rack, you could be forgiven for thinking its OEM. A few key points that distinguish this from OEM aside from minor design differences:

You can order with options

1. built-in gerry can holder (my idea)
2. Welded in HiLift jack mount (I paid $100 for a bolt on unit for my SD)
3. As many light tabs as you want, at a very reasonable price each
4. Spare tire holder
5. Stainless steel mounting hardware

Anyway, for those interested in pics, send me an email and I'll forward them to you. You gotta see the ladder. Sam, I have your addy, check your mail. Here's one of Abdul's truck, hope it's OK to post, Abdul.

Gary,

There is a way... I've seen it done. It's not quick as in snap-snap-done, you will need a second pair of hands, but it works. In fact, I'll tell Derek to include it as an option, and ship it with your rack. :D

what are the differences in the design. Does this rack come with all the required parts etc for mounting?

UrbanOffroad D90 full roof rack ready to ship

Not sure who this last question was meant for, but yes, Urban Offroad's system comes complete. It includes stainless steel hardware, backing plates, crossbars, mounts, the works!

The OEM rack has bowed out sides on the basket and crimped joints. Urban Offroad's are straight up, flat sides on the basket. Dimensionally, they are almost identical to SD's safari rack. The crossbars are also straight angles whereas the OEM crossbars have two bends on each end.

Other than the differences mentioned, you could be forgiven for thinking Derek's rack is an SD. The rear ladder is so good, even East Coast Rover used Derek's rear ladder on their BR110-2!

Sorry, but we did not use an Urban Off Road rear ladder on the BR110.
We have never bought, seen or installed any Urban Off Road products.

Not saying anything bad about their products, they likely make a great rack and are likely a great source for mail order racks (hard to say never seeing one), but we make all our own stuff.
Check your facts before you post.
