Safari Gaurd 3 link cross member

I am moving a 3 link from my disco over to my 90 and am in need of the defender cross member.

I am thinking about just making one but thought I would ask here first.

Im not even sure how much different they are as I havent really compared them.

Cheers Ed

Frame rails are deeper on the 90 so the bottom bolts shouldn't fit unless you extend the flange on the cross member. I say shouldn't because we put a D1 Cross member in a 110 we were converting and I still recollect it going straight in with no mods. I have measured the side rails on my 90 and one of my D1s though and they are different.

My 90 is a 97 and the D1 I have here is a 98 so thatís what I measured. The 110 was an 83 and the donor D1 was a 95 so I donít know if that made a difference and donít have access to the trucks to verify. It may come down to the year of the trucks possibly?

Go measure your frame rails and you will know. Worst case you modify the D1 SG cross member to fit the 90.

Unless there is some other SG specific difference I donít know about of course?

Ian

Thanks for the response and your comments on this. I will go measure them and see how close they are. I have just been assuming it won't work due to my research I have done without actually having a look for myself "lazy" on my part.

My D1 is a 94 and the my D90 is a 95 so pretty close in years .

Thanks again Ian

Cheers Ed

They will swap over. I have swapped 3links between several different rigs. The only difference in SG crossmembers I have notoced is the straight kind (early RRC and anything w/ a Tdi or other 4cyl any V8 with headers) and the bent version that does anything else w/ a V8.
I have both if you need visual clarification.

I have have just been to lazy to go out and crawl under the D1 buried in the snow to check for my self. Ill see what I have on the D1 and and go from there. If you have pics handy to post up that would be great.

Cheers Ed
