roofrack needed/wanted

I know it has been done to death, but I thought I would post to see if there might one available currently? Specifically, the one in the attached picture made by safety devices.

Thanks

To clear things up, I don't have a rack for sale. But, Derek at Urban Offroad has made a few that are just like the original ones. Contact him.

I got an email from Dereck Friday. He just finished a production run on these. He said only four were not spoken for. Move quickly.

Len,

His number is 818-378-4790. His website, http://www.urbanoffroad.us is in a state of transition at present.

Here's what his D90/D110 roof rack looks mounted on a 110.

Javier,

It looks good in the pic - is that your truck with the basket? Looks like good quality - can you share some opinions on the workmanship and finish. (good miters /welds, etc ?)

Thanks again,

Len

im getting one of those racks. i think they are the closest thing to the SD rack, yet looks better and stronger and you can get custom options on it.

Jim,

Yeah, a basket is useless unless you have a 110 or a ladder on a D90. Derek has come up with his own design for a D90 ladder. I haven't seen pics, but as soon as I can get some, I'll post them.

Len,

Here is another post re: UrbanOffroad's basket.

http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...ad.php?t=10823

Pics of my SD basket next to Derek's, prior to powdercoating. This is also before the welds were cleaned up. It is a solid basket, even more so than SD's, IMHO, because the ends are not crimped.

That rack looks pretty nice. Pretty good even though it is not exactly a 1:1 replica; though that was probably not the intention.

Not to sidetrack too much, but I think an aluminum version would be nicer. Same look and function, but a few pounds lighter would be awesome. I might even buy one if that were the case.

Not to hi-jack the thread, but for those looking we will have complete 90 ST/HT roof racks (baskets for 90s and 110s, and basket support systems for 90s) for sale by mid-summer, very close to the factory units, but with some changes/ options that we think are for the better.

Thanks

Too soon to say. We are making the jigs now. Unit prices will be ready when the first ones are ready to ship, likely mid-summer.

By basket support systems do you mean the two front rails and the two rear ladders?

Where was everyone when I was looking for a rack for my 90? In 2004, Northwest Parts was the only company that responded to this need with their ST rack.

Our reason for the "repo" of this rack system is actually in house needs. We have to make them anyway, so we might as well make a few more and sell them was the thinking.
We have a few special versions of this rack coming up on custom projects (for example: the next BR110 gets a custom set up that will be a 1/3 roof basket in the back and bars for 4 surf boards up front) that meant we had to jig up to make the parts anyway, so...
Thats a good rack (the one linked above (a little too Disco inspired for me personally)), but our customers keep saying they want a near exact duplicate of the factory rack.

The problem with the NWP rack is that it looks like complete and total ass. It may be priced well, and it may be well made, but it looks like someone's git-r-done approach to adapting a disco rack to the Defender.

Aluminum would be nice and light(er) but would also cost more. though if it wasn't too much more of a cost, it would be well worth it I would imagine. In the end, either steel or aluminum, these racks will sell like hotcakes!!
