Roll bar

Does anyone know where to get a rear roll bar?

Right now my defender is configured with only the front two roll bars (eg: http://c7743.r43.cf2.rackcdn.com/Ima...hoopset-02.jpg).

Can't find the rear-bar for sale anywhere.

It's commonly referred to as the "c-hoop" as it's the c pillar of the roll cage. You will also need the cantrails which are the lateral bars connecting the b-hoop to the c-hoop. These are no longer available (NLA) from land rover or Safety Devices, but occasionally they pop up used in the classifieds. Very rarely a brand new one in a box pops up for sale. There have been a few on ebay over the years but these are few and far between. Good luck on the search

Man, that's a disappointment. I wonder if anyone's tried to fabricate a set.

Fabrication of the roll-bar itself would be relatively easy, I beleive it is made of 1 3/4" DOM .120 wall tubing. The problem is replicating the original molded foam. I don't think anyone has ever carried out re-making rubberized reproduction cages. You could do something other than the factory foam such as a high density foam covered with a canvas or leather or similar cover. Perhaps Chris at Badger Coachworks could make up a cover if you could source a rollbar, and some foam. Or get a group together and re-make the stock one!

Exmoore manufactures a cover for the roll cage foam, Macker. They're on here in the vendors section.

I think their name is ExmoorUSA or something like that on here. We don't have Internet at work so I can't do the username auto populate thin in this app. Just search all the threads they started and it's in one of those. Of call SafariHP. It looked pretty slick.

C hoop

I took my C hoop to a fab shop and they made a copy of it in tubing so I could run a roof top tent. See the technical section under roof top tent or shoot me a PM and I can send you pics of how it turned out. I am still running my factory tickford with the steel c hoop without any problems.

I have a brand new genuine C hoop and cantrail kit to convert a fastback to full cage. Give me a PM and we might be able to do a deal.

So I just got James' C hoop (thanks) however based on the design it appears I need some sort of bar to connect the c-hoop to the frame (through the tub). I'm judging this by holes in the tub that seem to accomodate such a bar and the fact that if one didn't exist, a c-hoop bolted onto the capping/tub doesn't seem very robust in a roll-over.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Does such a bar exist?

Didyou remove your rear speaker housing? If you look in there you should be able to see if you have the part of the cage that goes from the frame to the capping.

Looks like you'll need that part. Sorry but I don't know the part # for that piece.
