rack for a ST d90

I've been looking around for a rack for my soft top d90... it seems that there are lots of options for SWs but I can't find any resources for racks that work with STs (although I've seen plenty of pictures of lots of different racks... just can't figure out where they cam from)

suggestions are appreciated... and if you've got one for sale that could be even better.

You have a few options:
1) Find the stock Safety Devices rack which is difficult to do and often expensive to buy.
2) Buy one of the hideous looking ones from Rovers North
3) Get a complete set up from Urban Offroad, which is similar but not quite as aesthetically pleasing as the OEM one.
4) Have something custom made
5) Do a combo of the above. The OEM basket didnt fit my needs so I got a custom basket made by Shane at Rover Hybrids.

wow, with a recommendation like that coupled with my previous feelings of good will towards RN I'm definitely going to have to go with door #2 (winking smiley added for the sarcastically challenged)

it sounds like my options are as limited as I feared.

Post some pictures of what you've seen and liked. I'm sure you'll be pointed in the right direction.

Since you are in CO, go to RAck Attack. You can use a Yakima rack that mounts to the front of the roll cage. Use the mounting brackets for an Xterra. I did that on mine. It won't fit in the garage but then you can mount any of the Yakima attachements.

That's an interesting idea... It just leaves you with a partial rack on the front though right? I was hoping to find options for a full length rack

as for posting pictures of what I'm looking for... jeeze make me work now eh... alright but it may take me a bit to gather the pics...

I may end up just going with a UO rack since that seems the closest to what I'd like and there don't seem to be many other places to go unless I have it custom fabricated (which I assume would be much more expensive.

The UO rack comes close to the original SD rack. With pics we can help you identify the different racks that are out there. Here's a Safety Device rack, you can do a search on Brown Church and the Hannibal one.

ECR has/had this for sale.

the brownchurch and hannibal racks won't work on a ST, nor will the one ECR has for sale.

I've been gathering photo's of racks I like and happened across this one that looks like a SD Disco rack: http://www.roverracks.com/D90VR.htm

I'd never seen it before and wondered if anyone on this list has seen one in person and what they thought.

Any experience?

As an update as I've been gathering: It seems like the choices are
1- custom made (some of the best looking ones say explicitly that's what they are)
2- wait to find an original SD rack
3- get a UO SD copy
4- get the RN version
5- figure out how to import a "patriot" rack from the UK (doesn't look like anyone sells it here)
6- Get the voyager rack from roverracks.com

right now I'm leaning towards #3 of #6

Brad,

IMHO, Urban Offroad's setup is the next best thing to finding a SD rack. You may get lucky and find one available. But chances are good it won't be cheap.

Call Derek and get a price 818-660-2855 or 818-378-4790

as stated earlier the Yakima mounts for the Xterrra tubular bars work perfectly the problem is, I don't think they make them anymore. If you find a set, the yakima cross bars fit perfectly as well. Shop around maybe a Nissan forum and you might be able to find a pair...
