Just so you know the Disco box will not work. The shifter is different.

If you're looking for one to replace a bad one, then you can use a Discovery R380 and swap over the needed parts from your D90 gearbox. Bell housing, shift linkage, top cover, selector rail and yoke on the end of the rail.

As Tom stated- we have done it as well, only opposite going from Def to Disco. Anyway, I have one spare Disco R380, $750 aprox 70k on it, and was working fine at removal- converted to auto.

I've got one I bought for a project from a Rover tech up in Satan't Kingdom, VT. It has about 65K on it, has a bellhousing on it, and isn't leaking oil on my garage floor. I'm not using it as I have since installed a 200tdi drivetrain. I'm not to far from you either.
