Need halfshaft!

I am having a hard time finding an in-stock halfshaft for my 86 110. Right hand side, 24 splines at the flange, 10 at the diff. Will pay extra handling for fast shipping. Ok with used in good condition!

AEU2520 10/23 short shaft. I'm sure there must be a lot of people with ones lying around after upgrading. I just gave my last spare away last month.

Ok, I suck. Miscounted. Won't say how even though I literally got off the phone with Trevor and recounted a second time! I'll attribute this to me watching 2/3 kids this morning.

So yeah - anyone have short 10/23 halfshaft lying around?

You did say 24 spline at the flange, which is correct.

yeah you nailed it... I went out to the garage and counted the driving member splines instead of removing the half shaft and counting that... dumb.

I have a 10/32 set as well, so no help. Why don't you just upgrade fronts now to 24 spline? defender/disco 3rd member, shafts and cv will be much easier to source. if you have to do the right front regardless, not alot of extra work to do left front and be done.

I have one here in NH andcan bring it to work tomorrow morning. If you still need it I can overnight it to you tomorrow. This is the AEU2520 although it is still connected to a CV: AEU2522.
Let me know.

throw in a D1/D2 3rd member. straight swap for your 10 spline. (caveat-on mine, I used a D2 3rd. I had to replace the studs (cheap-RN) on the axle casing because the D2 3rd member housing flange is thicker than older casings like my original)

once you have the 24 spline diff, then you are good to go for late model 24 spline axle shafts and CV's. same spec as NAS D90.

Umm, because the 24/32 setup is much weaker and big downgrade.... Much weaker at the CV joint and worse bearing setup.

To upgrade you would change to aftermarket 24/23 shafts and a proper aftermarket diff. But that is money!

Does anybody know what the difference is between the older- and newer-style front half-shafts?

According to an ancient D-90 FAQ post by Bill Davis, the older style shafts measure 1.185" in diameter, whereas the newer shafts measure 1.030" in diameter. Presumably, he's referring to the diameter of the non-splined portion but I'm not certain.

KAM and Ashcroft claim that their front half-shafts are compatible with the AEU2520/AEU2521 factory half-shafts and I'm sure this is true, but I'm curious about the profile difference.

I suppose I could make sure that my iPhone has a full charge and call Bill but I'm hoping that someone here can answer first.
