Looking for the set LR made that had the bars and feet as one piece. The feet were designed to go around the the roll cage outside the front driver and passenger doors. But certainly open to other suggestions. Does Thule make feet that would work?

Hi Dylan I am also sending you a pm about this Yakima used to make feet that worked for the roll cage in conjunction with cross bars. The feet were actually originally designed to work on the Nissan Xterra tubular roof racks but they work perfectly on a Defender soft top.

Hard to find but they work perfetcly so worth the effort.

Don

Follow-up Post:

I forgot to mention it is the Yakima X Tower part # 0109 you will also need a set of 3" risers so the cross bars clear the soft top.

The ones he is looking for, are the Thule bars. I think they were sold at the dealerships. I will take a picture and post them. The occasionally come up for sale on this board. A complete set in really good condition run $250ish, if I remember correctly.

I don't believe Yakima still makes this model. I got lucky and found a set at Atlantic British who had bought them to test. Possibly Nissan dealers might have some or know of something similar for their Xterra tubular roof racks. Maybe if you call around to some Yakima dealers, they may have a set or two left. You will also need the 3" hi risers to clear the soft top.

If I can ever figure out how to post photos on this site I will post some of my set up.

I have a set of the rack your talking about. It bolts onto the roll bars and is basically just 2 bars across your truck. It's rusty and in my garage, I was going to strip/sand/paint but I lost interest because I think they suck and are useless.

Do you want to get rid of it? How rusty is it?

Try RoverConnection. I bought a set of the other round tubing with round ends. Instead, received the set you're talking about, square-tubing with straight-angled ends.

Yeah, the site isn't updated regularly. It's best to confirm by calling. The parts I needed to piece together my rack showed discontinued, as well. I called and he had the parts in stock. Hopefully, you'll have as much luck as I did.

Yah I'm down to get rid of them, let me take pics of them with my camera phone when I get home from work. They only have surface rust where the plastic is scratched off. ( I scratched off most of it myself because I wanted to paint them ) Other than that its solid.
