Motor Needed

Looking for a 3.9/4.0/4.6. Would prefer a non-serpentine belt, complete with heads in good running condition with no leaks and solid compression for next to nothing. I know I'm not going to get all of those things, so what have you got? It does need to be in the mid-atlantic though.

Thanks,

Tony

I will have a 3.9 short block soon. I could scrounge a cam, heads valve train, most of a long block outside the front cover.

What is wrong with what you have?

I bought JimC's. I have a 4.6 that is going in place of his 3.9 which will be for sale.

Ron, this is for my Rangie. The PO decided to let it overheat multiple times, turns out the root cause was, believe it or not, a clogged radiator! Who'd believe that a rover radiator would fail?? The heads are done, intake is ugly, and the deck of the block is out 3/1000" Composite gaskets might help with the deflection, but who knows how bad the bearings and everything else is now? There's discernable wear on the cam lobes and the valley gasket looked like a crimescene. As I have virtually no time or money due to the impending wedding, I need a fast, easy, cheap solution to get this thing either out of the driveway (refer to the vehicles for sale section) or running again so that it's not a lawn ornament. The reason I"m going to the effort is that it's a VERY clean truck and I'd hate for it to get crushed.

What sort of shape is the 3.9 in?

Jim, what options do you have? Any idea how ugly shipping would be to VA?

Dave, how complete is the 4.0?

Anthony-
The motor that Ron is talking about has 136k on it and good compression. I pulled it for a diesel conversion. Its got an AC compressor too. Ron can probably arrange transpo for a reasonable fee since I think he's collecting it in person. You have a way to lift it?

As complete as it gets. Plugs, wires, wiring harness(s), if you need a new ECU, I have it. Has new plugs, magnecor wires and water pump (preventative maintenance before I decided to swap out for diesel.

Too bad you didn't ask before MAR! Could have had the BWoverland guys bring it down to you on their trailer.

Do you want to donate the RRC to RIT in New York for a University project? Could prolly get you a tax reciept. My cousin is looking for a DARPA vehicle and we got him hooked on Land Rovers at the Nat Rally.

I could get an engine to Forward Air. It would be less then 200 to ship. I got a 95' With 112,000 on it before a conversion. Good Runner. Should be resealed before install. 750.00 complete.

DMarchland I know a 4.0 Disco owner who needs a ECU. Can I put him in touch with you? I may be interested in the 4.0 at that price. Is it at Jesse's shop. How is that powerstroke doing? He called me a couple times when they were repowering for you.

What condition does the RRC have to be in? I have one running and one in pieces that I need to get rid of. I'm 12 miles from Manhattan. let me know.

Thanks,

John C.

PS: if it helps, RJ was interested in the bodyshell from my 91 RR. If he buys it he would have to come and pick it up, maybe he can bring David's 4.0 to NY and we could ship it from there.... just a thought....could save you some bucks..

That's certainly an idea! The somewhat frustrating thing is that there are something on the order of 100 bajillion RRC's out there that have massive rust issues but strong motors . . . and again, I have no time and little money to be playing with this, especially with a bentley in the garage that needs a frameover.

Ron, I thought JimC was going to keep his A/C setup. No longer true? I'm still looking for an AC package for a '94.
