Military HMMWVs for sale?

I have a car dealer friend who is interested in flipping military grade Hummers. He contacted me because I am in the Army, but I don't have an accurate answer as to how to acquire them. I vaguely recall a thread here in the past that discussed this scenario. If I recall correctly, the Marine Corps released a small number in the 80's but anything released now has to be de-militarized, which basically destroys the vehicle. Does anyone have more input? Thanks in advance!!!

I see many go through DRMO in every configuration. To my knowledge, they cannot be released to the public...period. Rarely, do I even see a generic part or two available for sale through the liquidation company.

Everything that goes through DRMO is sold on the government liquidation website but I never see them on there. You can buy a 2.5 ton all day long, but sadly no HMMWVs!

Someone with more time and google skills can look it up, but only a small number, say 500 early HMMWVs slipped through the cracks. I believe the USMC paid a contractor with the used HMMWVs who in turn sold them. Those are the ones you see circulating around the market place now. They seem to be reasonable in price though.

They don't meet DOT safety regs, but somehow 2.5 and 5 ton trucks, and CUCVs do. About the only parts you see at DRMO are the motors. I saw a chassis once, and a pallet of axle parts, but that's about it. These trucks were rode hard and put away wet, so not a lot of spare parts left.

You'll need to register an account. Surprisingly, the mobile version is easier to navigate.

I have also seen sets of tires, some hoods, heating kits, and sundry other small stuff. Even if they did release them, you'd probably have to de-mil them before removing from the base. That means torching them into quarters.
For some reason trucks and trailers seem to escape this fate.
