M/T Tires 285 or 255 or ?

So I spent some time dicking with the truck over the weekend and have realized four things:
  1. The tires are bald
  2. The tires are crappy british retreads
  3. The tires have large chuncks missing from the sidewalls
  4. The tires are dry rotten
Before I go spend money on new tires on a truck that won't see much mileage at all, does anyone have a half decent set of 285/75/16s or 255/85/16 MTs or some other interesting size?

I run stock size 235/85-16s, I know Barry likes 265/75-16s (same as stock size, but a wider footprint/tread on the road).

255/85-16s are essentially 33s which are a popular option as well.

That said, I don't actually HAVE any of these, it was just saying don't overlook these other sizes too.

tires

I run 255/85/16 coopers on mine...love em. But check CL. You can do a search on all of craigslist using the advance search function on Google. I picked up my previous sets of tires that way. I picked my coopers up almost brand new on ebay by searching locally.
