looking to trade. 3rds w/arb lockers

Anyone want to trade ft/rr 3rd members? I have 4:10s with arb lockers. Looking to trade stock gearing w/ arbs. Local preferred but could ship. They are still in the truck so I need some time to pull them if someone wants to swap.

Sorry maybe I wasn't clear. Just looking to trade with someone with the same set up but with stock gearing. So my 4:10s with arbs for your 3:54s with arbs. Switching 3rds will be easier than a gear change.

Damn, where were you a month and a half ago! I just bought a set of 4.11 ARB's to swap out my stock geared ARB's. I will ping the guy who bought my stockers and see if he is looking to upgrade.

I wouldn't advocate trading a known good set of locked 3rds for another set without a thorough inspection and knowing what procedures were followed or who built the 3rds. Also the stock gears are weaker and thus likely worth less than your 4.1s. Aslo, are your ARB's the newer RD128 or the older RD56? What about the ones you may be getting?

better IMO (and possibly cheaper in the long run) to just get a decent set of gears (stock or otherwise) and build them into your diff centers. that way any flaws (bad bearings etc) can be addressed while you have them out. Just throwing a random set of used locked 3rd into your axles, ask me how I know that is not a good idea...

unless of course your current ARB's are an unknown quantity as well..

Although the donor complete ARB thirds can be checked and rebuilt pretty easily. But your point of simply throwing in unknown 3rds is a gamble is a good one.

No sure if I have the 128s or 56s but I have but I haven't had a problem with them. Great Basin set these up so they were done right. I just hope the one's i'm getting are equal but once they're opened up it should be obvious, I hope?

I'd be careful throwing out GB as the builder of 3rds. They've been having a lot of quality issues lately.

A year and a half ago I broke a R&P down at Uwharrie. New/used 3rd member, shipping to GBR for thrust-bolting, all new bearings, and rebuilding the locker that was not only damaged from the failure but also showed significant wear in the side gears (presumably from running low on oil @ some point in its previous life) I ended up spending $1000. So yeah assuming all is well, you could turn out ok but it is pretty easy to put one in so why bother with a trade/gamble for unknown items? If you have the ability to take the ARB out and inspect it and put it back in, you have the ability to put in new gears too.

I am not sure I would go that far. Removing and reinstalling the diff can be done with simple hand tools that most already have in their garage, if not truck, and a copy of Rave or similar. Installing a new set of gears requires specialty tools and knowledge that I would not recommend the average hobbyist try
