Looking for disco

After I bought my Defender a week ago, I decided to let go of a VERY reliable LR3 2006. But now that I think about it, it might be nice to have that reliable car still there just in case. I have the option of giving the $$ back and getting my car back but while it'd be there if i need it, i'm not sure how much i'd actually need it. Thought it might be better to get a Discovery instead to use on the really ugly days. I've seen a few posts, but if anyones got an in on a D2 that isn't a wreck, I'd appreciate.
Thanks

If you're looking for a D2, Jeff can't be trusted (I am totally kidding) but this may be a good option:

All I'll say is I've never found these trucks to like sitting....so if you're counting on something to start on an ugly day you might want to go Toyota!

cheers-

Ray, are you saying they do better as DD and not occasional use?
I'm considering one in a few months, as a DD and possibly a HS vehicle for daughter.
Thanks.

Thanks.
I would say that my experience has been Rovers in general, and I can specifically attest to D1's, prefer to be daily driven vice sitting for a protracted period. Some of that is just anecdotal or personal opinion but everytime I've let my truck sit for awhile she pays me back when I start driving her again with issues. Whereas, knock on wood, when I DD her most days the issues seem less frequent and less significant.

Of course one could argue that the occasional driver with issues is no big deal, because you don't drive her all that much.

I love my 96 as a DD, and like you am considering one as a HS vehicle for my eldest but I've got a few years there and still need to overcome the ex's objections.

I got my truck with 60k on her 8 years ago. She has been a dd on and off since then. When she sits for longer than a week she acts just like me in the am.....old and cranky. Now sitting at 230k miles, I guess she deserves to be like that. The biggest issue has been a dieing starter. This last week Emma got pushed back into service for a trip to the Wilds in Ohio after the 110 when belly up.
There is something to be said about a stock D1 and its abilities. Rollling down the freeway at 75 with a/c and radio, then romping in the mud and running trails through the woods....then back on the freeway at road speed.
I do the best I can on the regular stuff,, but she has never let me down.
I will ride that truck till she rusts into the ground. Go for the D1.....biased opinion.

Billy-
Let me know if you need help/want an extra set of eyes. Last time Tony & I looked at a Disco was hilarious if nothing else. Jeff's a straight shooter, so I have faith in that Dii being as described.

Like Rick, I'm biased toward the D1 but finding those in decent condition is getting harder and harder.

You coming to HH Thurs?

Thanks Ray, just saw this... I found one on Craigslist but it was a little tore up. The guy seemed desperate to get out of it which was a red flag kind of but i knew even at the right price (about $2800) i'd have to do a lot to it. Tony was going to head over with me to eyeball it and i appreciate your offer. The guy selling went to the movies that night and to my knowledge, was never heard from again. Tony and I were waiting on the call. Its all good... Jeff's looks pretty good but I think I'm going to put all my effort in to the D90. I'll be at Kilroys tonight. Should be about 5 or 6. see you there!

Wasn't a 00 D2 by chance? That would explain a certain intermediary's incessant texts on what to look for on Discos... you gotta remember he is on his first OBD II truck.

Looking forward to linking up tonight, I should be there by 5 I'm thinking.
