looking for d-90

Hey everyone, I haven't posted anything before so i hope this comes out ok. here goes; I have been looking for a Defender for a while and this site was reccomended. Here's what I am looking for:
-d-90
-ONLY Green (B.R. or coniston).
-no more than 85k miles, obviously less would be great.
-a 97 would be great but 94/95 are cool.
-WELL TAKEN CARE OF. I don't mind some little dings, some screw rust, etc. I just want a truck that was lovingly cared for by an enthusiast who was protecting their investment. Some Off-roading, cool. Damage from off-roading, not cool.
-documentation of maintenence etc
- It can be pretty basic, although I would like a Soft top. I'll deal with upgrades later. I just want to invest in a quality truck.
-I am in Brooklyn New York and would prefer to see the truck myself rather than do a sight-unseen-ship-from-far-away deal. If there is someone near here, that would be great. I also travel back and forth to Washington D.C. a lot so anywhere around there is cool too. I am just the type of person who likes to see what I am getting in person. I know this narrows my options, but I am the way i am.
-My budget is in the low to mid 20's. I am all set to go if the truck is right. No financing or flaking. Just be straight with me about any issues. I've seen a few that have been misrepresented to me and it just wastes everyones time. I have realistic expectations about what I can get for my budget.
- If there is nothing out there right now but you or someone you know might be considering selling later on, please keep my contact info and give me a shout.

-also if any of you guys have any tips for me as to where to look etc, I am looking for my first defender and there is so much to know, feel free to share any Land Rover wisdom, etc.
Thanks for taking time to read this

Benny,

Welcome to the board,

First thing I noticed was that it looks like you have done your homework as to what you want, the list is a great starting point and can be used to gage the potentiol trucks that you may buy.

Second, your list does not describe a Defender that will sell for the low to mid $20k it describes a truck that would typically sell for mid $30K.

Last, When you go look at a potential truck, take another defender owner with you that can point out some of the pitfalls with a truck. It is very easy to overlook problems only to find them the following week in the driveway.

Good Luck

ben, i am in upstate ny. i have owned many rovers. 6 d90's 15 discos, couple rr's and a couple od older series trucks. we have taken them right down to nothing and rebuilt them.... if you need some help locating one or if you have questions give me as call or email i am willing to lend a hand. i do have a 94 green soft top that i am going to sell. it was a 1-owner. just put about $4k into it. i can let that one go if your interested. probably $19k. i am in the process of removing the waterpump for inspection as well as the radiator. it overheated the last time i drove it so i want to make it right for whom ever buys it. let me know if that is of interest. it has 108k. thanks

Thanks to both of you guys for getting back to me. I don't know how to post individual replies so I'll just mush these together.
Mike, I appreciate the advice. I don't anticipate being in the 30k range, so for now, I guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed and maybe get lucky.I know these trucks are pricey and sought after, although I recently saw one for 24k with 89kmiles that was enthusiast owned, well documented, and in seemingly great shape. Alas, it got snapped up before I could get to the guys location.
Mark. I would definately like to get some more details on the truck, although it sounds like it's going to need a fair amount of work. How do I get in touch with you?
