I have been meaning to start a pet project. As I look at a LHD and a RHD Heater unit next to each other, it looks just like a little sheet metal work to reconfigure a RHD to LHD. Anyone tried this or seen evidence of someone doing this?

ike goss did that LHD to RHD with a kodiak heater

http://www.pangolin4x4.com/pangolin4...diak/index.htm

really not the same thing at all though is it.

Question is whether it could be done for less than the cost of a new LHD unit, if one accounts for labor. My new LHD heater was only $385 or so @ RN.

Here's what I've been thinking about...I got it at Summit racing...28,000BTU with 260 CFM...with minimum sheet metal and a couple of brackets it should work fine...the only thing is it doesn't have any of the flaps and so forth that the stock heater does...I was able to source a stock heater housing but I'm not sure I will need to use it...we'll see...oh, and it cost like $130 bucks.

cool. I thought all the flaps were in the dash anyway. all you should need is a hot water valve.
