Land Rover Dealer - Ignition key cut??

Hi All,

can someone help me with a spare ignition key?
my local LR dealership is not so helpful.

i have a client that can not find his spares and just lost his "1st" set in the snow yesterday in PA. i have the VIN, i dont mind "trying" it first then calling a locksmith if the VIN cuts the wrong key.

THANKS!!!

regards,

keith

I had no problem getting a new LR3 key with just the VIN... I had to show ID and registration before they would order it though.

Is this for a 90?

They had to have mine shipped from the UK I think, I had to wait almost 2 weeks for it.

Snow is melting ....

Try a different dealer. A lot of them do not have the tool to cut the old keys. Usually they will cut one with ID + proof of ownership

Call the parts department of any local dealers to the guy. He is going to have to show up to get it. Probably a two day affair unless by some miracle someone has a blank.

I had the same problem last year... Getting ready for an event, and my 2 youngest lost both sets of keys for my 90 (in the house). I called my buddy that works for LR corp, and all the local dealers, no luck. I found both sets 2 weeks later.

The 90 keys were cut by hand with a plyers type tool (dial vin in). One of the tech had one, but I could not locate a blank key...

Can you borrow a metal detector for him?

Just borrow one from one of the trucks on the lot. Don't they all pretty much work in any Defender?

Are you having trouble finding a blank, are you having trouble finding a dealer who can supply you with the correct pattern, or are you having trouble finding a dealer that can cut the steel? Or is it all three?

Keith,

Give Joe Fuentes at Land Rover Winnetka a call at 847-446-6665 and tell him that I told you to call him. I know we have the tool here, we may have to order a blank, but I've watched them cut them here, or you can probably order a pre-cut one from the factory as well I would imagine.

For future reference....
Went into the neighborhood home depot, told them I had a ford, matched the key. Works like a champ.

If that's the case, you have solved the Key Blank Conundrum.

Does the key have any part numbers or other such info?
