ISO: parts feeler for a $500 Disco I project.

Picked this wrencherrr! I'd like to see what's out there for used parts. Everything from; affordable seat covers to suspension and a rear axel most likely will be needed. A bumper after market with or without winch. I have yet to dig in to see where I am at with it. Brakes are froze up in rear passenger side. Axel feels broke on same side. Goals are to go over mechanical add suspension and some decent steel wheels prefer 'wolf wheels'. Make it a good Colorado camping truck that I want be afraid to lay agains a tree and or rocks.

Thanks all!

Cheers

JASON

Yep, as Dro said Randy Williams is your go-to guy....TONS of Disco stuff on-hand, and an all around great dude. Plus, he meets us at Rausch for some wheeling fairly regularly so you'll want to connect with him regardless .

Maybe Randy is better to east coast guys but he tried to bend me over on some used lower shock mounts.
I bought the uppers and by most accounts probably overpaid for them. He didn't think he had lowers but ended up finding them. One would have thought he would have offered them at a reasonable price (since they're pretty much worthless without the uppers) but that definitely wasn't the case.

I just spent the weekend with Randy and some guys in a small huntin' cabin...don't forget he's Canuckian!

Maybe Randy is just in a higher priced market than what you're used to dealing with.
He is a decent guy, and he can cook alright, too.

What's bent over on a used part? It's used. It's cheaper than new. I would think quality of the used part is the driving factor. Is it black and not rusted or is it crusty? I can sell you something that used to be a shock mount for less than $1. That's a bargain to some and suicide to others!

That's the beauty of a free market, as a consumer, if you think a product or service is too expensive you simply take your business elsewhere. As a business owner his job is to maximize his profits on the goods and services he provides in order to better provide for his family. If he charges more than the market will bare he will lose business to cheaper providers. You shouldn't get all butt hurt over it, it's just business - not a charity.

Got a great price on some Disco 2 second row seats and shipping from Randy. Would not hesitate to use him again.

Brett:
Your statements are subjective, i.e. "bent over" adds no value.
Be more objective, by showing some numbers, please.

Of course its subjective, its my opinion.
Maybe "bent over" was a bit harsh. He said he was going to look for the lower mounts(since they were sold as a kit with the uppers). He wanted an additional $75 for them on top of the $165(shipped) I had already paid for the uppers. I countered, he said no thanks. He had his price and I had mine.
In the end I got some nice upper mounts for an OK price and I'll just fab the lowers.

Wasn't involved in the transaction more than just talking to Brett helping him looking for lowers....but

..I'm guessing that's more than/equal to new.

Not that I blame Randy, he's a great dude. He had a very desirable product and sold it accordingly. It's just, us disco owners are typically cheap bastards.

Randy is a solid guy. Once out at an event a submerged tree branch found a new home in my fan. He had a spare with him and made sure I was good to go. I gave him a $100 and thanked him for saving me from needing a tow home. Two weeks later he sent me $55 back by mail. Somehow he got my home address and noted it was $45 fan.
