hitch receivers

I'm trying to locate more places where I can find a rear hitch receiver for my 94 D90. I have come across a few options so far;

This one the shipping costs more than the parts;
http://www.connectstores.com/lr/sp_36326.html

I tried ordering this one but it seems the place went out of business;
http://www.roveraccessories.com/RA/r...ccessories.htm

This option seems to be the best so far;
http://www.roversnorth.com/store/pc-...der-90110.aspx

Does anyone have any other places they know of to get a rear hitch receiver?

Depending on what you're looking to spend, Rockware would be an option. www.rockware.net

Ike makes these for Series trucks, it may work for you: http://www.pangolin4x4.com/pangolin4...s/hitches.html

If not call me and we can have Justin fab up what ever you need. He's currently redoing the rear tire carrier for my 90 and he just built a sweet roll cage for one of the Series trucks that lives in my driveway. Jake has my number or PM me.

Thread revival.

What hitch did you end up getting? The Rover Accessories model looks perfect but they are out of business?

I don't need mega towing capacity, just something to hold my bike rack.

OKoffroad sells a hitch very similar to the Pangolin4x4 Unit. It is priced at $69.95 shipped. I'm not sure if this is the correct bolt pattern for a Defender though (Sorry, but I am currently out of town), so you'll definitely want to measure prior to ordering. Specs are as follows:

Bolt-on 2" receiver.
1/2" thick, 4-hole steel mounting plate.
Black powder coat finish.
Plate dimensions: 5" W x 6" H.
Bolt Pattern: 3-3/8" W x 3-1/2" H.
5/8" hitch pin hole.
Made in USA.

havent gotten one. I want a Rover accessories but they are never open or answer the phone etc. I am not sure one of the Safari Gard or Rover Accessories 2" recievers would work due to clearance of the spare tire and bike rack. I do not want to have to use a hitch extender. I am waiting to see what Rovertym will come up with. I did call Safari Gard and they did not have any of tthier hitches availible.

Rovers North has one that they sell for $195 - I looked at the picture and thought - I can make one of those...

So a stop by Northern to get the receiver tube ($12.95) and with a couple of scrap pieces of steel - one piece of 8" long x 6" channel and a 14" piece of 1-3/4" angle iron - a few hours with a drill press, sawzall, jigsaw and a welder - here's the end result. Total cost in materials about $25 and three hours time.

I've opened up the two holes for the chain attachment to 5/8 diameter and there are a couple of hidden bolts that go up vertically into the rear cross member through the angle iron.

I towed my egg-shaped Boler trailer down from New Jersey and have dragged my Porsche around on a car trailer with no issues.

Rovertym should be able to make these pretty easily.....

In the back like NAS D-90's - Just used existing threaded mounting holes in the rear crossmember so the bolts don't go all the way through.

Mounting the trailer plug without dropping the fuel tank was loads of fun...

Jack,

Are you interested in making more of these?

Not really - I'm not that good a welder and I had a friend of mine do the finish welding after I tacked everything into place. He did one as a favor but I don't think he'd be very interested in doing a bunch more. I'll be glad to provide a sketch of the hitch for someone else to copy.
