Genuine LR3 seat covers

In trying to sort how to work around the air bags mounted in the seats of these trucks, I'd like to see how the genuine covers are constructed to allow for deployment. Anyone have a set they don't need? Used is fine..
Thanks
Tony

Yup, even just one, I'd like to see what, if anything, they do to accommodate the bags.

Me too. Having seen hundreds of vehicles with deployed airbags of all types, my thoughts are that once they pop they will blow the seams apart. Doesn't speak well to the longevity/durability of the covers, but preserves the safety factor.
I bet your best bet it to do some testing. P38 front seats after 2000? I think had side airbags, they should be easy enough to get cheap. I know I couldn't give the last few sets I had away. Then you can bang out some upper cover designs and blow them, and see what works best.

I have a ton of facelift Mercedes W210 E class front seats in stock now, that would probably serve just as well but I think the side bags in those cars were in the door panels only, not in the seats.

Also something to think about is the covers shouldn't impede the operation of any seatbelt pretensioners, this would apply to D2 as well.

Velcro is certainly an option. My upholstery guys have absolutely no faith in the "tear away stitching" that many manufacturers claim they use. Apparently many in the industry feel it's just BS to sell covers. We are going to try and do better than that and actually make our customers safe. (Hence the delay)

Dont forget the actual side airbag is huge and must come out far enough to do its job...

Let me know if you want to test your covers. I have a couple of bags and seat back I'd let go cheap

Thanks, Paul. I have a full set of seats, but when it comes time to QA them I may very well take you up on that.
