I have a NAS tank with pump. They are NLA / Unobtainium though, so you might be better off $$ wise with something else.

Hi Chad, if you have an early 84 defender you need to use a saddle mount tank that fits under the RH seat. You can one new pretty cheap from AB or RN. Maybe $150? You can use a NAS rear tank but will need to make the rear mounting brackets and weld them on the truck as well as get or make a lower mounting plate that holds the tank in place. You will also need to relocate the fuel fill to the rear and change the exhaust to a later style.

Good Luck
Scott

Hey Chad,

Glad you got it sorted! I Love the Tdi Jetta wagon It's probably the best car we have ever owned. It's not going to win any speed race but fast enough. It's a wagon after all Best part is we average 48mpg and have gotten 55mpg on long highway trips. We are just pushing 200K and have had zero issues. Change the oil every 8-10K and timing belt every 80K.

Good luck with the 90!

Yeah if my wagon was a tdi itd be worth a ton more. And I heard from the tech guy at my local vw dealer that your era of tdi's are the best they made. Mine is fast, but I granny the shit outta it so I can get good mileage. If I granny mine, I can get 30-35 mpg which is decent for a car that old even with 2 boards on top and 2 inside. I love my wagon!!!!
