The one on eBay ended at $3,350!!!!!! I hope Safety Devices doesn't hear about this. I am hoping that when (if) they start reproducing them next year, they will be priced less than $2K.

Now what will happen is that anyone sitting on a rack will drag it out hoping to get 3k, so in the next month there will be 3 for sale on ebay all with a 3k reserve.

Just kidding Matt.

3K is a bit much for used set up.

I bought my first one for $800 including shipping from FL to TX...only a few years ago. I have had 3 of them and the most I paid was $900, I think $3k is insane. Makes you wonder if someone ran it up on purpose. I actually am in the market for just the basket, but at those prices I will find something else.

I know, it's ridiculous but supply / demand at this point. I wouldn't hold your breath for SD to start making these again- I've been hearing that for years.

it may seem steep but i contacted sd on the g4 expedition style rack and ladder combo. if i can get an order of 4 i can have them shipped to VA for 2250.00 each. considering a used rack went for 3300.00 on ebay i am very interested in purchasing a new one at a substantial discount. if i can get 3 other folks to jump in.

if interested let me know.

For anyone needing a basket, Derek at Urban Offroad just started making a basket dimensionally identical to the SD basket. He made it for a 110 and honestly, it looks even sturdier than my SD rack. By simply moving the mount points, he can make them for a D90.

Give Derek a call, his number is on his website http://www.urbanoffroad.us . From what I understand, pics of the rack mounted on the 110 will be up by this weekend.

Cheers!

Javier

Will.
Whats the difference between the G4 rack and the NAS ones ?
If they are substantially the same I want one. Our farm is about and hour up 501 from Danville so that may work out.

A quick search on the G4 website yielded these pics of the G4 Defender with racks.

Will probably has more information, but the G4 racks on the site pics were not made for soft top D90s... or NAS Defenders for that matter. I clarify that, the site only shows hardtop 110s. Though the rack looks really nice, it doesn't appear that it's compatible with an external roll cage. Look particularly close at the 5th pic link above.

For almost half the price, you can have Urban Offroad make you an equally sturdy rack that not only mimics the SD rack, but is much improved and mounts to NAS Defenders. Just a thought...

On a side note, I recently picked up a second SD D90 basket and ladder for my Series. It's in almost perfect condition. The price? Only $700, which includes a $100 finder's fee to the guy who pointed me to it's availability Of course, he had to haggle with the seller to lower the price to $600, but that's why he got a finder's fee!

That would only work on a SW and then maybe (probably) the cage would interfere.

Aaron,

I spoke to Derek about it this weekend. His rack will be in the sub $1500 price range. It will incorporate some features that are not in the OEM rack, but you'll have to wait to see the pics. I'll start a new thread once I know more. Definitely give him a call if you're at all interested.

About the links to the G4 Challenge site pics. They must have some image protection scheme that looks at cookies. I'm able tp open the links with Firefox, not Internet Exploder. Two ways to view the images, they are specifically pics of Defenders:

1. Navigate the site http://www.landroverg4challenge.com with Internet Explorer, click Images/Video/Audio link, sift through 675 images
2. Use Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com) to view D-90.com and then click the links (works for me)
