Early Defender LH door latch

I need to replace the latch mechanism for my '86 110 LH drivers door, exterior lift handle with remote pull inside. Currently I have to roll down my window to open the door and even that is getting iffy. If you have a working unit let me know, see attached pictures for reference. I'd like to swap out the key cylinder so I can keep my current matching set. If anyone has a source for new ones I'd consider it also.

Inner latch will not release door. There is no spring tension on outer handle. I've pulled the latch assembly out and fussed with things to no avail. I would drill open the casing to see if I could replace the spring but then I'd be out of any way to latch with questionable results.

Sounds like you've been through it all, but on my '84 the inner latch won't do anything if the lock button is down. And sometimes the lock button just "falls" down on its own.

Yeah the lock doesn't seem to make a difference unfortunately.

Bump. At this rate I'm going to need a new roll down mechanism as well given the wear I'm putting on my window opening the door. If anyone has experience rebuilding these latches let me know, it may be my only option but I'm doubtful it is doable.

Yeah, I think so, the roll up window/lift up latch mechanism on trucks from 85-87 (not sure on exact years). Need a LH one. Are you an angel sent from baby Jesus?

Is that the same? I've got a spare right hand actually, which I'm hesitantly considering drilling apart to transplant the spring out of into my drivers latch. Mainly I don't want to screw myself by ruining one good and one somewhat functioning latch and be left with a piece of string holding my door closed. Maybe I'll pick this up, thanks!

Bravo. I think this rivals my (daily) driving my series with a dead starter for about 3 months before finally getting around to replacing the starter

I did this for a week or two in my old 109, honestly it was great watching people's expression and the comments when I cranked started it, they assumed it had to be started like that.

Thanks, I'll buy it, the striker doesn't look the same but I'll give it a shot! If anyone has one more like the picture in the OP I'm still interested.
